I look at Trump this way
There was a time in this country when the idea of electing an actor to be Governor of California or POTUS were just as far fetched.
Not similar situations. The American public has judged Trump and they've judged him negatively. He's not going to change over the next year and they're not going to suddenly reevaluate him positively. He doesn't have any appeal outside of the crazy side of the GOP base and that's not going to expand.
In a perfect world, that would be enough to win him the nomination and keep the crazy train rolling but even that's a long shot. I understand that you're really only a bunch of Americans and not a whole lot can be expected from you but the subset of your population who thinks it's funny to shoot yourself in the face for shits and giggles doesn't add up to an electoral mandate under any type of situation.
Now, if Trump is the candidate, Clinton might finally get around to admitting that she flew to Benghazi on batwings to personally slice the US Ambassador's throat just for the sake of evil because she wants to make it somewhat competitive, but even that wouldn't do it. There is absolutely no risk of Trump becoming your next President, so you can feel free to just laugh and not have any kind of worry.
Well, y'all can play The Donald cheap if you want too. He may never live at 1600, but that doesn't mean he won't pave the way for another who will.
And as for the American Public, they may find themselves too busy posting Trump jokes on Facebook to vote.
