The Interview not to be shown in theaters

A funny vid from Taiwanese Animators, making much fun of Sony:

Just looked on The Pirate Bay and it's there, a DVD rip. Been there for five months according to the site.
Apparently there are a lot of malware-laden fakes. Thread lightly.

How can a DVD carry malware other than an auto-run file? (Which can't execute if you use something like VLC to play an .iso image rather than burning it.)

A DVD rip doesn't have to be in DVD video format. It just means the source is DVD. It can be in .mp4 or .mkv file or something else.
The way I have read these scams work is that the fake video file will ask for a codec to be downloaded to play. The codec is obviously an executable file.

I'll bet our elite counter-haXXorz, full of the spirit of freedom and democracy, have already made pirated copies of the film available online.

Just like every other film that comes out. Or in this case doesn't.

What Pirate Bay domain? After the last take down one of the leaders said it was time to call it quits, because they originally planed to do it for 10 years...the code was shit...and other sites are doing it better. My hunch is you are on a copy of The Pirate Bay operated by malicious script kiddies.

What I think is very strange is that a legitimate copy of the movie has not been leaked yet. How the hell is that happening?

Yeah, but that's an obvious scam that anyone internet-savvy should know.

I believe it was Isohunt that posted a mirror of the original site.

Wow, Loren. You've been posting a lot of dup posts in a lot of threads. Having a little drinky this morning? :very_drunk:

Naw. Hie's either not cleaned his browser or his internet service is way slow at the time.

It's the internet service. I haven't consumed a drop of booze in more than 30 years.

Speaking of South Park. I recently saw the Jewbilee episode where the Jews worship Moses. I also noticed that the Chanukah candles were lit left to right instead of the more common right to left. This subject came up the very next day at a Chanukah party where the host suggested lighting them from left to right.

This episode also didn't make any kind of news, so far as I understand, when it first came out.

Oops, the candles are supposed to be lit left to right, so Jewbilee was accurate about this. The host was nice enough to say it didn't matter which is true in the sense that the whole thing is bullshit.

The Interview will be shown in MY NEIGHBORHOOD....just something to not attend locally here. This "hack" has all the earmarks of a publicity stunt.

And you know what? Even if they did have the means, aren't we supposed to be the shining example that stands up for our values even in the face of serious consequences? What the [bad word] happened to us as a nation?

I thought that you guys were the ones who talked a good game but then folded and gave up all of your supposed principles as soon as they became inconvenient or difficult.

Isn't that what America is all about?

Sadly, that's pretty accurate.
