They were business owners, managers. These weren't yokels. These are people that bought into a narrative that the election was stolen and were convinced of it despite not a shred of evidence. They went to DC looking to overturn the election, they just thought there would be support in the way of the military.

Americans are well practiced in believing things without a shred of evidence. 70% plus are "Christians" and at least another 5% subscribe to other religious superstitions. Is there some reason we should be surprised at how stupid they/we are as a collective?

Maybe that "no guns on the floor" rule was a mistake. A good old fashioned shootout between congresscritters might be just what we need.
