That's true.
nor has it threatened the USA.
That's not true, Russians have shitload of nukes and pretty capable military force, hence a threat.
The US has with its cooperation with NATO and lining up missiles in Turkey. The US and its allies not Russia has started wars in the Middle East.
You say it as if it was a bad thing
If there are differences then the way to get over these is to find a common ground which is cooperating in the war against terrorism in the Middle East. By working together other differences get solved.
American generals masturbating on "The Hunt for Red October" (the movie) disagree.
If the US military was a bit smarter they
would push the missiles back a couple of hundred kilometers since they are long distance anyway. This may be just some dick wagging to try and threaten the Russians who are more likely instead to also start positioning is weapons in strange places.
How does that help generals to feel important and relevant? I am sorry but making yourself irrelevant is not smart.
As for Red October the American generals involved may find that the Communist regime in Russia has gone.
It was never about
communist regime. It was about
any regime which poses a threat.
The generals is irrelevant. Coming from an Army community one does not always have to make their weaponry obvious.
Historically it was about everything communist or which could be communists, hence the witch hunts under McCarthy to find reds under the beds.
The US doesn't seem to have a problem with China which is still communist (on paper at least) but it still seems to have one with Russia.
