Trump is very busy fulfilling his vision of idiocracy, getting rid of everyone in government who actually knows WTF they are doing. Competence makes the tiny brain feel very insecure.
America was pretty good while it lasted, but the loss of career professionals who make government work for the citizens will not be something from which a country can recover in an election cycle or even a generation.
It has been a real privilege for me to be born into privilege, and an even greater privilege to be able to reject most of the material aspects of such privilege and still live a life of luxury compared to most of the world.
I don’t think anyone born in America today will ever have that opportunity, though it is hard to know how bad it will get and how fast it will get bad enough to hurt Trumpsucking voters enough to wake them up. If that’s even possible.
That is the one variable I am having a really hard time anticipating. Will the FOXwashing machine be sufficient to make them happily endure hunger, homelessness and a hopeless outlook for their children just because trannies and off color people suffer even more? Will they EVER turn on the one who entertains them with Roman-esque public displays of torture of their (his) appointed enemies?

When will the Gallup organization do its next "Do you approve of Trump's performance?" poll? The results may be interesting, but I expect him to get 50% or so. People do not like to admit that they were wrong. (In the years I've posted at this board I only recall ONE instance -- (there MUST have been more?) -- namely, Emily Lake's recent admission that she misdefined "median." Totally wrong comments on macroeconomics are very frequent here, but NEVER with a subsequent retraction.

But even if a clear majority of the population turns against Trumpism, restoring democracy may be difficult. There are already swing states where the Reds rule a Blue majority via gerrymandering and other tricks. Expect more Red states to follow; expect Red-controlled states to bypass the popular vote when choosing electors.

Like Hitler before them, the fascists who now rule Washington D.C. will find clever ways to entrench their power. SCOTUS will have a 7-2 majority, with most of the Seven not just ordinary Republicans but criminal hacks like Thomas and Kavanaugh who, for a cut of the take, will fuck whoever their pimps tell them to fuck.

People speak hopefully about the 2026 and 2028 elections. I hope their optimistic hopes come true, but wouldn't bet on it.
