Trump 2024?

ast Thursday, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell predicted that while Republicans may take the House during November’s midterm elections, they’re unlikely to flip the Senate due to “candidate quality.” This forecast, which McConnell is not alone in making, did not go over well with former president Donald Trump. How do we know this? Because he took to Truth Social to tell us as much—and by tell us as much, we mean he not only called the lawmaker from Kentucky a “broken down hack” but also insulted the guy’s wife (who happened to be in Trump’s Cabinet).

Yes, on Saturday the ex-president logged on to his sad social media network and angrily typed: “Why do Republicans [sic] Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard working Republican candidates for the United States Senate. This is such an affront to honor and to leadership. He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!”
Way to go, Don. Alienate the people that can help you.

I mean, yes please? I would love to see Senator Palpatine McConnel get challenged by Darth Stupid.

President Joe Biden‘s approval rating in the past month has skyrocketed, jumping six points after massive successes in getting his legislative agenda passed. At 44%, Biden’s approval rating is now higher than the approval ratings of Donald Trump (41%), Barack Obama (43%), Bill Clinton (39%), Jimmy Carter (43%), and Ronald Reagan (41%) at this point in their presidencies.

Clinton, Obama, and Reagan went on to win re-election.

People really are easily manipulated, aren't they? Throw them a bit of money, scare them with the apparent revelation that the Republicans "really meant it" all along, and suddenly they're on board. Like, Biden has been a competent administrator and leader this whole time, patiently rebuilding from the utter ruins Trump left of one of the most complex bureacratic structures on the planet... but no, folks want bread and circuses, not quiet competence. Bring on the gladiators and the free pizza, that's the way to win in this "meritocracy" of ours!

Could we arrange some sort of televised wrestling competition with 45? Or maybe a nighttime comedy show with Biden starring as the lead under two tons of makeup? Is there anyone we could declare war on before November, just in case ratings dip again? Surely there are some hospitals to bomb or foreign children somewhere as need killing in a hurry. We need panache, not results.

Or maybe just learn to play the saxophone.

Save the children.

Donald Trump has been complaining that Ron DeSantis is “stealing” from him.
According to three people who’ve spoken to the former president about the Florida governor last year and in more recent months, Trump has repeatedly ridiculed DeSantis for ripping off the ex-president’s style. “There was this time, maybe a year ago, that I remember him making fun of [DeSantis] for doing similar hand gestures and motions,” one of these individuals tells Rolling Stone. “He called it ‘stealing’ from him and [to paraphrase] described it as a lame impression of Trump.”

I don't see how the RNC can afford not to give Donald the nomination when he decides to run again.
If they don't, the best they can hope for is that he'll run as an independent, split the GOP vote by drawing away the "batguano crazy" base, and Biden cruises into a second term.
Their worse case scenario is as above, with the extra added bonus of Donald's followers going on another rampage... this time directed at the RNC.

Trump vows pardons, government apology to Capitol rioters if elected - wapo

Former president Donald Trump said he would issue full pardons and a government apology to rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and violently attacked law enforcement to stop the democratic transfer of power.

“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” he told conservative radio host Wendy Bell on Thursday morning.

And the rest of the GOP either cheers or yawns.

That this is a democracy, used to be a very easy standard for any candidate and party.

Bet you anything right wingers are going to pull out the 'we're not a democracy, we're a republic", semantic bullshit again.
Yeah, they really like to wear their abandonment of democratic principles on their sleeve these days. Nothing new though, really.

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday spoke at a rally for Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance while a QAnon song played dramatically in the background, and his supporters raised their fingers in an unusual salute.

In recent weeks, Trump has amplified QAnon talking points on his social media, but Saturday night's spectacle in Youngstown, Ohio, was perhaps the clearest sign yet that he's now openly embracing the baseless conspiracy theory.

As Trump complained about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, "Fake News," and Hunter Biden's laptop at the Ohio rally, a cinematic soundtrack played throughout.

According to Media Matters, the US-based media watchdog, the soundtrack appears to be a song previously released online with the title "Wwg1wga" — the QAnon slogan.

QAnon figures noticed the song choice, perceiving it as a nod to the movement by the former president. "QAnon figures are claiming the use of the song brings some kind of legitimacy for them," said Alex Kaplan, a senior researcher for Media Matters, in a tweet on Saturday.

Oh God. They're using the "st*rm" iconography.

This is thinly veiled St*rmFront metastasis.

It's a combination of various violent groups to attempt to fuse their ideologies and interests. Anyone googling "the st*rm" will readily find Nazi propaganda and anyone who can find that and stay onboard, we need to be very cautious about.

They're engineering their own Nazi salutes too.

They're even gearing up to justify that whole "everyone not loyal to us gets executed" bit that crazy guy wrote about in the bad old days, supposedly from a jail cell.

Some umm... let's read more posts about how Biden had the color red at his speech, while Donald Trump has apparently openly embraced Q-Anon, a fictional and unknown leadership organization of disorganization and cryptic / meaningless messages. Embracing a MadLib book would have been less disturbing.

It is hard to come up with hyperbole at the moment. I mean, yes, I could write something about Trump giving a long and thorough talk on economics, but that wouldn't be all that funny... and maybe a bit too unrealistic. Trump on the other side of the spectrum? He is bumping the edge. It'd have to be more about the GOP reactions to it.

"Trump's call for the 'silencing of woke liberals' met with some criticism by the GOP."

"After Trump's slaughter and mutilation of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on national television, GOP members say it is too early to ask whether we should limit the power of the Presidency."

Their allegiance with white nationalism has always been an open secret. They only need a slight veneer of secrecy to shield themselves from their moderates, media propaganda does the rest. "What, now storms are Nazis? The woke left has lost their f*cking minds, I'll comment on the weather if I feel like it!!!"

Yup. This.
They HAVE to let him run or forfeit the election on account of a split party.
However, He already lost that election two years ago... by as much as he won it himself 4 years prior.
NOTHING has made anyone that didn't vote for him in the past now wish to vote for him. He has only lost more votes, not gained any.
The RNC has only one way to possibly take the presidency in 2024; They have to assassinate Donald Trump, pin it on Russia or some vocally democratic retired FBI agent, and put forward a populist candidate that acts and sounds just like Trump, but with some "twist" of personality that makes him at least slightly less repulsive to at least a few key districts.

From The Hill

A new NBC News poll released Sunday found that 34 percent of registered voters said they have a positive view of Trump, while 54 percent say they have a negative view of him. Trump’s favorability rating was at its lowest in April 2021, when his rating fell to 32 percent in the same NBC poll.

Looks grim for the Trumpanzees.

That's why he's counting on and playing to these people.
