Hanoi, North Vietnam -- The President declared making "huge strides" towards peace with North Korea today after the two day Summit. The Summit in Hanoi was the second such summit with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un. The first summit ended with a signed agreement declaring the intention of "denuclearizing" the Korean Peninsula.

This summit has concluded and Trump's announcement indicated that progress was had in meetings both private and among aides. The White House reported that the "incredible breakthrough" came with the secret one on one meeting between Kim Jong Un and President Trump. In it, they agreed to what the definition of "Nuclear weapon" was.

"This was an incredible victory for us," noted White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. "With this breakthrough, we now have the outline on which to develop plans to have North Korea give up with their nuclear weapons.

"Without a definition, any further talks would have been fruitless."

When asked whether the leader of North Korea made any concessions or indicated a willingness to give up their nuclear weapons, Sanders replied, "That is just ridiculous. You can't discuss dismantling a nuclear weapon program unless you have a concrete definition of what a 'nuclear weapon' (air quotes) is."

Sarah Sanders indicated there was no immediately known date for a third summit, "we'll need to keep an eye on his polls to determine that."

If it is a step towards North Korean nuclear disarmament and integration of North Korea with the world it is a great thing.

It would be one thing that Trump was remembered for.

We'll see.

Right now it isn't anything.

Besides Trump's ease with brutal dictators.

That's pretty damn funny!

Hard to see why anyone would negotiate with Orangey. He has demonstrated that the U.S. simply lurches from one extreme to another. A President who tears up every treaty, trade deal, and pact -- or delegitimizes them, in his (unbearably uninformed and coarse) tweets, simply tells the world that he -- and we -- are unstable actors. And there's fairly good, optimistic reasons to suppose that he'll be gone in 22 months. That cute-as-a-panda Kim has to have color video playing in his head of Gaddafi dragged out of a construction pipe and murdered.
I do like the 'quote' from Ms. Huckster-Slanders; sounds just like her.

Air quotes is funny too.

A meeting to decide what a nuclear weapon is should take about 15 minutes, much less time with experts. It is something that can be agreed to in writing before a meeting.

Jebus unter! I think this flew well over the head.

Why did we even need to have a second summit? The first one led to North Korea abandoning their nuclear weapons program, making peace with the South, and starting construction on Mar-A-Lago Pyongyang. I thought there was nothing left to talk about!

How President Trump And Kim Jong Un Went From ‘Fury’ To ‘Love’ | FiveThirtyEight
Eighteen short months ago, the most memorable phrase associated with the relationship between the United States and North Korea was “fire and fury.”

Today, it’s “love.”

... After the two met last summer, Trump said that they “fell in love.”

“No, really,” Trump continued. “He wrote me beautiful letters.”
Seems lo me that Little Rocket Man and his friends are laughing at what a dotard pResident Trump is.

That would be another good direction to take an article (Summit of Utopia) I hadn't thought of.

"North Korea has nukes" is the right wing's new version of "Saddam Hussein is almost finished on his Death Star". It's been over two years since any weapons testing in North Korea and most of their scientists died in an earthquake since. I pledge to stop building nuclear weapons as well. Where is my fucking medal?

Just the possibility they have nukes has kept them free of foreign attack.

It is not a bad play.

But North Korea is a very sick dictatorship. For today's standards a very primitive dictatorship. A crazed dictatorship.

It is possible to be a democracy and still have nukes.

Party's over. Nothing accomplished. More wasted money and more attention to a disgusting dictator that kills his own family members and starves his own people. Perhaps most disgusting of all is that Trump believes Kim when he says obviously untrue things.

It was a real waste of time. That's exactly why negotiations over what each side wants and how they define all of the terms under discussion are done at a lower level to get all of that stuff sorted out before the leaders schedule a meeting with each other. That is, of course, if your goal is achieve some sort of progress or solution as opposed to a meaningless photo op.

[applause] That is the very best result that could have been hoped for. Every alternate outcome would have been much worse. Kudos to El Cheato for not giving anything else away.

Not a waste of time for Kim. He got Trump to bless his treatment of the American prisoner who died soon after he was returned, and excused it as the unintended result of his being kept in a huge prison system where Kim could have no responsibility for knowing what was going on. Kind of the way Trump is treating detained families at the Mexican border. Being a dictator is so complicated these days. Trump's gift that goes on giving.

Where are the entrepreneurs? Shouldn't someone be offering a great big nothing-burger picturing Kim/Trump on the menu?

The real news will come on Saturday's SNL.

No, see, the fact that there was no deal is itself a massive victory! We wouldn't want Dear Leader to make a BAD deal, so the fact that he walked away without giving in to the tyrant is actually a GOOD thing. Our leader is so clever!

Trump bombast works against him. He makes it very clear that he must have a deal. All the other side has to do is not give him one, and he twists in the wind.

Where's the big China deal BTW?
