Trump Declares "Massive Victory" In Hanoi Summit

Party's over. Nothing accomplished. More wasted money and more attention to a disgusting dictator that kills his own family members and starves his own people. Perhaps most disgusting of all is that Trump believes Kim when he says obviously untrue things.

It was a real waste of time. That's exactly why negotiations over what each side wants and how they define all of the terms under discussion are done at a lower level to get all of that stuff sorted out before the leaders schedule a meeting with each other. That is, of course, if your goal is achieve some sort of progress or solution as opposed to a meaningless photo op.

No, see, the fact that there was no deal is itself a massive victory! We wouldn't want Dear Leader to make a BAD deal, so the fact that he walked away without giving in to the tyrant is actually a GOOD thing. Our leader is so clever!
I hate how ignorantly condescending Trump is. He tells the press, sometimes you just need to walk away.

...or in the case of North Korea, you just don't set up these obvious failures to occur in the first place... nevermind saying what a great leader he is and shielding him for blame of the death of an American student.

I think Trump's calculus is very simple: if you want something, flatter.

Plus I agree that figures like Kim, i.e. authoritarians, are father figures to Trump.

Not a waste of time for Kim. He got Trump to bless his treatment of the American prisoner who died soon after he was returned, and excused it as the unintended result of his being kept in a huge prison system where Kim could have no responsibility for knowing what was going on. Kind of the way Trump is treating detained families at the Mexican border. Being a dictator is so complicated these days. Trump's gift that goes on giving.

True. It was good for Kim. Trump gives him the type of attention that any narcissistic dictator would love. The two of them have a lot in common.

If it is a step towards North Korean nuclear disarmament and integration of North Korea with the world it is a great thing.

It would be one thing that Trump was remembered for.

We'll see.

Right now it isn't anything.

Besides Trump's ease with brutal dictators.

North Korea has shat on every disarmament agreement they have made. There's no reason to think anything they agreed with His Flatulence would be followed any better.

Trumpo doesn't give a rat's ass about actual disarmament. He only wants to enrich himself by expanding his brand wherever possible.

I don't know why Trump is doing this. He was threatening nuclear armgeddon early in his Presidency, then he switched gears to Bro-Mance over night. And he says he still has a good relationship with the guy who is the third generation nation starver. Maduro on the other hand...

There goes that wonderful bromance between the Dotard and Little Rocket Man.

North Korea Calls Trump Administration Racist Billionaires’ Club
North Korea accused the Trump Administration of being a billionaires’ club that harbors a “policy of racism” while exacerbating social inequalities and denying freedom of the press and health coverage to citizens.

The “White Paper on Human Rights Violations in the U.S. in 2017,” issued by the Institute of International Studies in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on Wednesday, claimed that human rights in the U.S. have deteriorated since President Donald Trump took office last year.

“Racial discrimination and misanthropy are serious maladies inherent to the social system of the U.S., and they have been aggravated since Trump took office,” the paper read. “The racial violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, on August 12 is a typical example of the acme of the current administration’s policy of racism.”

The Art of the Walk? Summit collapse and Trump's diplomacy
Trump, the businessman who was elected in part on his boasts of deal-making prowess, said a proposed agreement was “ready to be signed.” But he said he refused to accept what he described as North Korean insistence that all U.S. sanctions be lifted without the North committing to eliminate its nuclear arsenal.

“I’d much rather do it right than do it fast,” the president said. “We’re in position to do something very special.”

The North said it had demanded only partial relief from the punishing sanctions.

Trump had pushed for the summit, telling wary aides that his personal chemistry with North Korea’s young and reclusive leader outweighed any need for detailed, staff-level talks to iron out differences before either head of state set foot in Hanoi.
The only good thing about this collapse is that it didn't give more away.

George W. Bush was supposed to be the brilliant manager and Trump the dealmaker. The odd thing was we knew beforehand that W didn't manage to run any companies well and Trump declared bankruptcy numerous times and was only capable of making good deals through con'ing subcontractors. But you know... we couldn't trust Gore or Clinton to run the country. So the US voted for frauds... twice.

...Trump declared bankruptcy numerous times and was only capable of making good deals through con'ing subcontractors....

It is theft and people should not be allowed to do it.

And it shows who makes up the rules of the game.

What kind of rule is it that says when you have money to pay bills over here you don't have to pay them because of legal fantasies?

Could have been better. He had an article title and the Arby line and hoped no one would notice him forcing a short article from it.

This is the Internet. 99% of people only read the headline, so it's practically unnecessary to even have an article, even a short one.

A joke need not be long-winded to be funny.
But it musn’t overstep its source. The Onion will come up with article titles and leave it at that. Sometimes the title is just enough.

Apparently, NK State television just gave glowing reviews about how great and successful Chairman Kim's visit to Vietnam was and completely failed to mention anything at all about the failed nuclear talks.

WTF is it with every news network these days trying to become a clone of Fox?

But it was great for North Korea. He got the President of the United States to praise the North Korean Despot. And North Korea gave up nothing for it. It isn't a huge win, but it is a win nonetheless.
