Trump Derangement Syndrome, Emory Edition

So, Derec, oh mighty one, do you support making Mexico build a wall to keep its people out of the U.S.?
I don't know about a literal wall (although it works quite well in Israel) but we definitely need to do something to make illegal crossings of the US border much more difficult than it is now.
And note that I said "illegals". This is not about being anti-immigration or xenophobia or "keeping people out". Entering US and immigration should be done legally.
Do you think no Muslims should be allowed in America, the land of the free....uh..the land of the no free lunch....especially for those despicable Muslims.
Blanket ban is obviously an overreaction but we definitely should not be like EU, taking in millions of Muslims without any restrictions or vetting.
Those to come to the US, Muslim and otherwise, should respect US laws, values and way of life.
What don't you understand about this jackass agitator with the comb over red hair?
It's not about the Donald per se. I would feel the same disgust if Emory Republicans had reacted this way over "Bernie 2016" or "Feel the Burn" chalkings.
You seem to be unable to recognize a demagogue when you see one.
Again, it's not about him. I am not even a Trump supporter although I recognize that he has some good ideas on immigration and that he would be a whole lot better than Ted Cruz.
The students have a right to oppose Trump.
Yes they do. By all means they should engage in political discourse. But what these students have been doing is not discourse. They do not have the right to try to silence Trump supporter by claiming "Trump 2016" chalkings are some kind of hate crime.
He stands in the way of many of them completing their educations without a mountainous debt.
I don't see the connection. Can you enlighten me?
You place no stock in the future.
How so?
Perhaps you should just go back to the past by yourself....very few people want to go there with you...and Trump.
No, still not a Trump supporter. But as to the one thing I agree with him, how is actually controlling our borders and enforcing immigration laws "going to the past"?

Trump Derangement Syndrome is hilarious! I posted a link to an opinion piece about it to illustrate just how delusional right wing fascists are.
It is the Emory snowflakes who are behaving like fascists.
They genuinely believe that Trump is so great, that the only possible explanation for anyone criticizing him is insanity.
No, criticism of any candidate is fine. What these students have engaged in is something else altogether.

Somebody call Jerry Seinfeld. He's much better at doing nothing.

Jerry Seinfeld: Politically correct college students 'don't know what the hell they're talking about'

Well that proves that the PC police removed the chalk, just like you said would happen.
Maybe they are still hiding in their safe space.

Seriously though, the behavior of the students was ridiculous, I think we can all agree to that.
But the statements made by the Emory president were beyond the pale too - saying he thought the students were not overreacting, saying "Trump 2016" messages violated Emory values, saying that they will use campus surveillance to identify the chalkers ... I think that the negative reactions from pretty much everybody, including from the Left like that Atlantic article, let to any reaction fizzing out.
But it is telling that the 40 students who were that traumatized by the chalkings could not even be bothered to grab a wet sponge.

By the way, this is the response from some other Emory students.

HEROES: Emory Students Respond To Denunciations Of Trump Chalking With MORE TRUMP CHALKING
Brilliant!

But it is telling that the 40 students who were that traumatized by the chalkings could not even be bothered to grab a wet sponge.

Wow, your response is like a religion! Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

We ARE controlling our borders and spending a lot of money doing it.

What you want is some imaginary childish perfect control of our borders.

You want a fantasy, thus you support Trump's ignorant fantasy visions.

For all you know, the chalkers violated Emory values and rules about chalking. Even if those values and rules are silly, his statements may very well be an accurate assessment of any violation.

The statement about violating values is obviously about content. As is the nonsense about refining social justice policies etc.
While it is true that some chalkings violated technical chalking rules, that was not what the president was referring to with the nonsense about social justice etc. nor what the snowflakes were referring to when they claimed they were traumatized by them. Those were viewpoint based complaints. I am glad that the Emory president seems to have come to his senses, probably as a result of ridicule the snowflakes received.

Brilliant!
You didn't expect a response from Trump supporters?

Apparently these are not Trump supporters per se. Did you read the article?

We ARE controlling our borders and spending a lot of money doing it.
We have 12-20 million illegals. We are obviously not doing a very good job. And pro-illegal activists are even allowed to place watering stations in the desert to make the infiltration as safe and easy as possible.
What we need to do, in addition to better physical border barrier, is strengthen employment rules, end policy of sanctuary cities and eliminate benefits illegals currently receive in the US like healthcare, education or driver's licenses.
This is sheer insanity which only serves to incentivize more illegals to come here: California Creates Student Loans for Undocumented Students
PC term "undocumented" actually means illegal.
What you want is some imaginary childish perfect control of our borders.
Perfection is impossible and nobody is demanding that. But we can do much better than what we are doing now.
It's pro-illegal crowd who demands perfection. For example, just because we can't deport all 12-20 million illegals at once, does not mean we should not deport as many as we can.
You want a fantasy, thus you support Trump's ignorant fantasy visions.
Wrong.

Wrong. They would not be "damned" if they behaved like adults and not petulant toddlers. "Those Trump supporters are being mean to us!".

I've been trying to wrap my head around Trump Derangement Syndrome...

The statement about violating values is obviously about content. As is the nonsense about refining social justice policies etc.
It is not obvious. You have no clue what it is about.
While it is true that some chalkings violated technical chalking rules, that was not what the president was referring to with the nonsense about social justice etc. nor what the snowflakes were referring to when they claimed they were traumatized by them. Those were viewpoint based complaints.
Your ability to project your delusions onto others is truly amazing.
I am glad that the Emory president seems to have come to his senses, probably as a result of ridicule the snowflakes received.
Nah. You simply do not understand university presidents and their roles. He never said anything about curtailing freedom of speech.
