President Trump has let America know that if the US re-elects the GOP to control the House and Senate, he will provide every Adult American $5000. The following helps explain the offer.
- Where is this money supposed to come from?
- According to Vice President Vance, it is a dividend from the accelerated tax revenue income the United States has had under Trump.
- How much is that?
- According to the US Treasury, around $138 billion, or a 3% increase.
- How much would this cost the US?
- Nothing. It isn't going to happen. But, if it did, around $1.2 trillion or so.
- Isn't $138 billion less than $1.2 trillion
- Not anymore it would seem.
- When do the checks get sent out?
- Some time between pigs flying and hell freezing over.
- Even if the GOP holds both Houses, Trump's promise will waft away like a fart in the wind like his other promises on replacing ACA, releasing the Epstein files, marital fidelity with his wives, winning the Iran War in the Spring
- Doesn't Congress have to approve such an offer?
- Congress is only responsible for actual spending.
- Is this Constitutionally legal?
- The President has the Constitutional Authority to make any promise to the American people they have no intent on keeping.
- When was the last time a President made such a grandiose promise on sending checks to the people, but didn't?
- Are you asking before Trump became President?
- If "bribery" is such a bad thing, why wasn't Herbert Hoover criticized for promising Americans a chicken in every pot?
