Thew stupid orange nazi's tariffs are backfiring everywhere....

As China announces a new round of retaliatory tariffs in response to Himself’s escalation of his petulant and pointless trade war, a key component of his base appears to be tiring of his trade policies.

No, not US farmers. Middle-class Chinese.

For months, many in the country’s vast industrial/management class have been criticizing their own government’s responses to Trump’s trade moves.
Members of the middle class, a force of as many as 400 million peoplein both blue-collar jobs and professional roles, per government estimates, had been posting criticism of Xi’s leadership online, particularly when it came to his dealings with the United States, said Cheng Li, a contemporary China scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington.
The unease came as the country’s stock markets plunged nearly 24 percent from January peaks and the Chinese currency dropped almost 10 percent against the dollar this year amid the trade tensions. Rising rent, debt and grocery store prices also played into citizens’ concerns.

The government’s response: a coordinated message campaign that boils down to, “Hey, we’re trying to be the grownups in the room, but this guy’s nuts.”
And, because of Wilson moves like announcing new tariffs just as China’s negotiators show a willingness to come back to the table and tweeting Ken doll megalomania like

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

.....China has been taking advantage of the United States on Trade for many years. They also know that I am the one that knows how to stop it. There will be great and fast economic retaliation against China if our farmers, ranchers and/or industrial workers are targeted!

Chinese public opinion has shifted rapidly and dramatically against the “greedy and crazy” American president. From commodity brokers to retail shoppers, people are seeking new, non-American sources as a matter of patriotic pride, even if it means paying more.
“Before we used Apple, but now we’ve changed to Huawei,” she said of the Chinese phone maker. “It makes you emotional like that.”

Economic decisions, large and small, are emotional and personal as much as they are rational, and emotional associations linger much longer than the circumstances that create them.
Chinese importers have already begun establishing new, long-term suppliers for American commodities and now, thanks to Trump’s tiny thumbs, Chinese consumers may be joining them.
Heck of a job, Orange-y.

Trump is just fulfilling a campaign promise by having a wall built around the US which is made up of people who just want nothing to do with the place anymore - and we will pay for that our damn selves because that's one more way of not having anything to do with you.

So, what? A whole 3 Republicans will realize that they hurt themselves by voting for Trump and will change parties in the next election?

Trump's trumpeting that 'We're winning!' Can only work while the base can afford TV and Fone service to hear the lying.

For the benefit readers not flexible in their understanding of English, could a moderator fix the thread title?

Take out 'the' and make it read "Trump Loses the _A_ Critical Base of Support"

There was no "the" in the OP title to start with.....the thread title was directly taken from the Daily Kos article. No need for moderation.

I thought Trump's critical support was Putin and his hackers.

I thought the critical support was liberal commentators who would talk of nothing but Trump from the moment he declared for president. No other Republican could get coverage, so no other Republican had a chance in the election.

And the liberal's palpable disdain for Trump overcame any principled opposition from conservatives. If we hated him that much, he was clearly their man.

WTF are you smoking?

No shit.
That was the point.

Then why suggest replacing "the" with "a" When it wasn't there in the first place?

Pointing out that it did not actually SAY what barbie was responding to.
It seemed more effective than inviting him to read it again.
But then setting my pumpkin slicer on fire would probably bring more desirable results than attepting to correct babie's assumptions.
