Gun nuts often fly vandalized flags with an additional blue stripe among the red ones (or just blue-on-black); it supposedly stands as a memorial for either fallen soldiers, fallen police officers in the line of duty, or just support for the police state in general, depending on who you ask.

Right. "Thin blue line" paraphernalia was all the rage in the LE community for the last couple of years. Seems to be dying down now, but we were selling a ton of crap like this patch:
