Someone tell me these are actors. Please.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog stages a focus group with Trump’s biggest supporters, presenting a series of increasingly outrageous and extremely fake campaign ads, to find out how far they’re willing to go in support of their candidate.
"Donald Trump's plan to lock Mexicans in porta potties sounds like solid, fresh thinking to me."

"I agree with Donald Trump. The only way to compete with the Chinese is to lower their IQ with various paints and solvents."

:sadyes:

Funny stuff. I didn't go quite all the way, but...yeah.

Reminds me of the Yes Men.

You should watch all the way. They get increasingly stupid and outlandish, and yet everyone ends up agreeing that they're good ideas. It's funny but it's also scary. If these are not actors, then these are people with zero intelligence or awareness involved in their thoughts and speech. They'll go along with anything, and allow for increasingly degraded and punishing treatment of Mexicans, not to mention increasingly ridiculous. They don't care! The most "questioning" that I saw was when some of them said that Trump's abortion casinos should all have the same cut off times for allowing abortion instead of later term allowances for the poorest cities.

They all look like normal people, people you see in the grocery store and your next door neighbors, but this is textbook RWA thinking - going along with whatever is proposed by the "authority" that has taken up residence where their conscience is supposed to be.

I sincerely want someone to prove to me that these are actors. I'm familiar with the RWA research, but I still don't want it to be true. Not this true. Fuck.

The last line is a woman saying she agrees to injecting things into the water of the Chinese to lower their IQ.

Those "endorsements" at the end are clearly them reading something rather than coming up with their own words, but still, they fucking read them.

The only thing missing from this demonstration of RWA mentality is that no one asked them if they would support eliminating right wing authoritarian followers. In the research that also shows exactly everything you see in this video, they describe this as "people who are so submissive to authority, so aggressive in the name of authority, and so conventional that they may pose a threat to democratic rule." In the studies, high RWAs agreed without a second thought. (In this case, the authority being Donald Trump.)

Knowing these people will vote against their own interests isn't nearly as horrifying as knowing they would vote to eliminate themselves if Donald Trump suggested it.

After The Donald actually calls and thanks you what else could you do?

What seemed clear from these groups is they had no real opinions about real issues.

Blank slates walking, or sitting, around.

Yeah, and following that authority without a speck of conscience.

The old guy reminds me of Jimmy Wichard from King of the Hill

I think the funniest things are the outlandish suggestions. I think the people somehow think they're supposed to cooperate and only make constructive criticisms. Then again, maybe the famous Stanford experiment discovered a anomalous cluster of authoritarian nut jobs.

The video makes me weep for our future.

It's quite disturbing. A large chunk of US population is a sea of Manchurian candidates, highly suggestible people walking around with a disturbed, authoritarian mouthpiece taking up residence in their minds where a conscience is supposed to be.

I think this is a case of groupthink and group shift, where the people are not offering anything but support for the ideas even though they are getting crazier and crazier. If their was dissent, it was kept to the individuals so not to upset the group.

Oh yeah, there's definitely some "social engineering" effects, but that's not all that's going on, not by far.

I don't care about one liners here and there, and in most threads I make, I don't really care where people take it. In this one, I'd like to stay on topic and not fill it with your creative arts projects.

So, you're disputing these losers evolved into Trump-supporters.....SERIOUSLY??!!!

Yes, that's an example of tendency for right wing authoritarians to play the persecuted victim. That's been studied and covered in the literature, too. Excellent. Thank you. But contributing the link didn't require a string of annoying posts in this thread. Just fucking stop already.
