Is there anything illegal in using a lawyer who represented Russians to represent another client in the USA.

Not illegal but there is the potential conflict of interest that this lawyer represented the specific Russians who are named in the investigation. Moreover the fact that Trump can't even hire a lawyer who doesn't have a Russian connection really is incredible.

In much the same way that someone facing a racial discrimination lawsuit being represented by a lawyer who is an active Klan member would be. Sure it's not illegal - but it's a bit on the nose.

There could be a conflict if a lawyer represented two clients then represented one after an other. Let the investigation first bear fruit rather than reports which are defined as highest certainty not being a guaranteed certainty. If the clients existed before being named on an investigation then there certainly was no conflict of interest. If they were represented after then there could be something to look into.
