So the United States can't put forth any limits on drug pricing, so Donald Trump is proposing to allow importing of drugs from Canada to the US.

The Trump administration said Wednesday it will create a pathway allowing Americans to legally and safely import lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada for the first time, reversing years of opposition from federal health authorities amid a public outcry over high prices for life-sustaining medications.

One of the main concerns with importing drugs is safety. But Canada isn't exactly a third world nation.

Then this leads to the next concern... why in the fuck are we requiring Americans to get their drugs via mail order from another country... a country that put pricing limits on drugs?!

There’s actually a lot of opposition to this up here because there are limited quantities of a number of drugs and we don’t want to adversely impact our own ability to get them because they’re being sold down to you guys. It’s not our job to be a band aid for your failed medical system.

While we like your money, we’re probably going to need to impose some export quotas or tax the living shit out of non-citizens buying them so that you don’t put us out any.

Trump's trying to get credit for fixing our drug prices, without pissing off the drug companies by actually fixing our drug prices, by deregulating access to y'all's drug prices. Yeah, and they better come up with some answers. So they'll lie.
My guess is that this, like most of Trump's brain farts, will never happen and the Democrats will be blamed for that. If a bill is proposed there will probably be 50b$ for the border wall attached to it, it will fail and that will be that.
Of course if they really wanted it to happen they could simply stop enforcing any relevant statutes ...
But I don't think teh Donald has ever met a cause of pain for the "common man" that he didn't like.
