The media wants ratings, which also means they want Trump elected.
Trump gives them far more fodder for their 24 hour "news" cycles that any of the other candidates, and he would continue to do so as president.
The irony is that the lies, fear, and hate spread by Fox News for decades has helped Trump become a viable candidate, yet Fox News is more opposed to Trump winning the nomination than CNN, MSNBC or most other cable news outlets. That's because Fox News is run by people interested in more than ratings by any means neccessary. They are right wing ideologues trying to use the station as the propaganda machine to increase Republican and conservative power. They (like most of the GOP leadership) think that Trump has the least chance to win the White House and even if he did, would do more to harm than help the long term selfish interests of the GOP and conservatives.
