Congratulations, Republicans! The terrorists in your party issued enough fatwas to scare a politician away from running. This is a great victory for Republican terrorism!

Whoops. I'm sorry. We're not allowed to call white people terrorists unless they're from Ireland.

Of course, what I meant to say is not "terrorism" but "Republican free speech warriors."

What I would like to know is how she was doing in the polls. Unfortunately, I can't find any poll results.

Was she a black female state Rep or a state Rep who happened to be black and female?

A quick review of news articles covering this story indicates that her being black was the foremost reason for the threats, with her being a state Representative as a significant secondary factor. There's no indication at this time that her being female was a factor, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if the harassment included rape threats.

So the correct order of descriptive terms is 'black State Representative who happens to be female'.
