It's about damn time, everyone knows they've been working on Fallout 4 for years. The rumors I have heard is that it will be based around Cambridge, Mass. with a connection to MIT and an AI project that was alluded to in previous games.
As far as previous Fallout games go, they are all great games, with the exception of Fallout Tactics. Fallout 1 & 2 are top down isometric games from the '90s, and I don't think you can get them for consoles. They blended tactical turn based combat and RPG style play. Fallout Tactics was much the same, though much of the RPG elements were stripped out as it's focus was intended to be multiplayer, but it was an incomplete and bug ridden mess that was rushed out the door to meet deadlines, and never fully patched. Fallout 3 and New Vegas made the switch to FPS, with some features that allowed us old timers to use turn based mechanics in combat, and were the first to target consoles as well as PCs. They are all ultimately based on a PC game from the '80s, Wasteland, which was a notoriously difficult, but rewarding game, years ahead of it's time. Wasteland 2 came out a year or two ago, and it went retro with top down isometric turn based tactical combat like the original games. It is a great game as well, and can be picked up on Steam. I think it may be available on consoles as well, and is definitely worth picking up.
