So this is just a rumor at this point, but it would be pretty interesting if he got the part.

I was honestly impressed with his voiceover work in Guardians of the Galaxy. I can't imagine the acting challenge of having to say the same line over and over again and communicating everything with just the tone of his voice, but damn if he didn't pull it off.

If he gets the part of Black Bolt, he'll have precisely the opposite challenge as an actor. Black Bolt never speaks.

Having watched movies where Vin Diesel did speak, this seems like a good choice for him.

He's good at standing around looking imposing and punching people in the face. When the script calls for him to go beyond that range, however, he tends to drop the ball a bit.\

That just makes it all the more ironic that he is quite compelling when doing voiceover work.

Vin Diesel also wanted to play The Flash

Vin Diesel wants to play every superhero

Have either of you two watched video of him doing the voice work for Groot? It's kind of amazing.

My favorite Vin Diesel movie is Iron Giant, where he was the voice of the giant. He is a very good voice actor, and I am interested in how he would do a non-speaking roll.

As for his other movies, Pitch Black was great, but then they tried to do a whole franchise on his character and they went downhill fast.

Daniel Tosh has a hilarious stand-up bit about Vin Diesel.

It follows a bit on the Winter Special Olympics and that one shouldn't make fun of the retarded. (someone call the PC police)

For those who cannot watch videos with sound (get back to work), here is the transcript.

Here is why you don't make fun of the retarded.
First of all, they have the strength of ten men, which is equivalent to one chimpanzee.
That's why if you ever see a retarded chimpanzee, you turn and run, okay ?
Because that thing is a borderline superhero.
But hollywood, on their moral high horse, they won't make movies about a retarded chimp.
Unless, of course, you count Vin Diesel movies.
Which I do, which I do.
And in all fairness to me, if you're a Vin Diesel fan, you shouldn't be here watching me anyway.
You should be at home coloring, praying your next one gets on the refrigerator.
But it won't, because elephants aren't orange, you idiot.

It's not that Black Bolt never speaks, it's just that when he does speak people die, and cities fall down. Any lines delivered would be heavily processed to make them into booming tones carrying the weight of mass destruction.

I could see Vin Diesel as Black Bolt, he has the physique for it, and I think he can handle the body language necessary to carry the role. Not only does Black Bolt not speak unless he needs to destroy something, his face is also half covered by a mask, so body language is going to have to do the trick.

Herd this one discussed in the rumor mill for a while. The hosts were joking that separating his voice from his physique helps both out - but I'd ultimately agree with them that he'd likely be a good choice.

Yeah. I know. I said he doesn't speak, not that he can't speak.

Yeah, I think he would be good at it.

Groot's friends understand what he means largely through emotional rapport and familiarity. Black Bolt kind of operates the same way. Vin Diesel would have to use gestures and facial expressions to make it believable that people very close to him just sort of intuit what he means. Other than that, Diesel just has to look imposing and commanding.
