Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Carl Sagan would definitely completely ignore this and believe it's a non-issue!

They were using AI to hunt anything which could possibly have been DEI. Of course it produced a gazillion false positives.
Um not sure if that kind of AI was in use in 2020...
The act being passed in 2020 has no bearing on it. I'm saying they were using AI to cut anything that remotely resembled DEI.

Alternet doesn't vet its "reporters", credibility is quite variable.

I do NOT understand your "hard-on" against Alternet. Is it just another symptom of your derangement syndrome that anyone unhappy that Gaza's children are denied food and medicine must be an anti-Semitic sympathizer of Jihadism? Does their editorial bias favor The Left Wing™? Obviously. Do their stories contain hyperbolic adjectives? You betcha! Welcome to post-rational American discourse.
My problem with Alternet is that there's no quality measure.
Do they represent actual lies as Truth? I dunno -- You've made that charge repeatedly, but never backed it up with an actual example.

Are they a good source for "objective" news -- whatever that means? It's hard to find objective news in the U.S. With Reuters now paywalled I find Aljazeera to be among the best options. Yes, I know metaphorical spittle will cascade out of Mr. Pechtel's mouth when he reads that claim!
They say what you want to hear. Doesn't make them not a terrorist mouthpiece.

Are you REALLY saying that Alternet is a "terrorist mouthpiece"? Wow!
No, I was referring to Al Jazeera.
Are you gonna back that claim up with something intelligent, or have you just degenerated into a Derec imitation.
(Rereading, I guess that you couldn't "keep your eye on the ball" and confusingly injected a useless response to my parenthetical mention of Aljazeera. We needn't litigate your hatred of Aljazeera in this thread. Just find an Alternet exaggeration as severe as your suggesting Aljazeera is a terrorist mouthpiece. To get you started, NPR gets much financing from USG. Is it a "Putinist mouthpiece"?)
You were referring to it as one of the best options. I don't see that I misinterpreted what you said.

CNN shows news that's usually completely useless and irrelevant. Not only don't they connect dots, they don't even report most of the important dots.

CBS produces a useful 60 Minutes segment and its overlords permit the segment to air only outside the U.S.A.

News sources -- like Alternet -- which dare to espouse clear and thorough anti-fascist messages are breaths of fresh air.
The problem is that you have no information as to the accuracy of said reporting.

Yes, NYT and CBS are now censored. I would assume all US news now is. But don't confuse the lack of censorship with accuracy.

I would presume most of them are reasonably accurate.

How would you so presume? When's the last time you actually clicked on an Alternet story?
Anyway, your concession voids any opportunity for me to disprove your prejudice. I could report in detail on why 60 of the 74 articles are reasonably accurate and you'd counter with "What about the other 14?" If you continue this rant, please display a true major flaw on Alternet or stifle.
The point is "news" that 60 of 74 articles (your number, I'm not attempting to check) are correct is useless. It's worse than Tesla's FSD.

Well, it has bearing, as the act was brought into existence due to cases prior to AI.

My "60 of 74" was purely hypothetical -- as you'd have understood if you read carefully.

And you continue to miss the key point. How do you know an article is wrong? You Google the author; search other sources, consider evidence, make judgements, etc. I think you know this -- you wrote that you might "attempt to check."

Answer the following, please.
Which of the following two synopses do YOU think comes closest to the feelings I've expressed about Alternet?

(1) Read Alternet!!1!11!!! Use it as your fact-checker!!1!1!! Everything they write is the Gospel Truth!!1!

(2) Alternet, with dozens of politics-related headlines on its home page, is a good starting-point to learn what anti-Trump folks are writing and thinking. Do check them, of course.

Rube that I am, I had never heard of the Palm Room. I gather it's a sort of glorifed vestibule. Anyway, if you look up before and after pictures, it was a warm, plant-filled space before the felon repurposed it to look like an OPEC millionaire's pissoir, or maybe the hallway leading to the Wizard of Oz's chamber. It's now piss elegant, and only needs gold letters spelling TRUMP to make it worthy of a high class whore.
Jesus Christ, does he spend part of each day on his home decor projects, mucking up a place he has -- at most -- 3 more years to befoul?

I want to @ Mr. Vonse and ask him if he is going to donate money to keep illegals from stealing his $2000 "tariff dividend" check. But I don't want to pick on Mr. Vonse. He has the grace to admit to his MAGA affiliation. I think there are some other MAGA fans here who don't confess to their alignment.

I WILL @Loren Pechtel . I got this story from Alternet, so encourage him to prove his claims about Alternet's reliability, using the quote below as example. Thanks in advance, Loren. I didn't seek corroboration personally -- I'm counting on you.

Many Bibles put the words of Our Saviour Jesus Christ in RED. I follow their lead and Redden the words of this Great American Santa Claus -- generous enough to mail out $2000 checks to American workers but now seeking help to keep the Democrats from stealing the money and giving it to illegals.

Alternet said:
President Donald Trump is now asking his supporters to donate money by implying Democrats could steal future "tariff rebate checks" and give them to undocumented immigrants.

Liberal group Meidas Touch initially reported on the email, which told supporters: "Here are 3 reasons I need YOU to STOP THE BOIL NOW BEFORE MY END-OF-YEAR FUNDRAISING DEADLINE." The email went on to suggest that Trump wanted to send $2,000 checks to "workers" using revenue generated from his tariffs, though he claimed Democrats planned to "send your check to illegals if you don't respond in the next hour!"

The solicitation warned that control of the House and Senate were both on the line, and that supporters' money was needed for "STOPPING COMMUNISM," using Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani (D) as examples. The email made no mention of Trump's public embrace of Mamdani in the Oval Office last month.

"WE'RE WALKING ON RAZOR-THIN ICE!" The email warned.

“Only a massive and immediate response will do,” the email continued. “I need YOU to help me hit my end-of-year fundraising goal by midnight tomorrow or EVERYTHING we’ve worked so hard to accomplish could go BYE BYE.”

Are you suggesting Loren is a MAGA hat wearing numbnut? That would be absurd.

:confused2: Not at all. Of course not; that would be absurd.

Loren has a peculiar aversion to Alternet, thinking it to be so unreliable as to be useless. I thought he'd appreciate the chance to debunk this story I saw only at Alternet.
