Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Response 1:
Trump keeps lowering the bar on pathetic leadership. This will be tough to top.

When Obama accepted his Nobel Prize, that he knew wasn't because of anything he did, he took it as an opportunity to spread a message.

Trump extorts the potential leadership position of Venezuela for the Nobel Prize, and acts like he won the damn thing. And despite being provided it, it still is Machado's award.
article said:
"Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others," it said in a statement last week. "The decision is final and stands for all time."

Trump is pathetic.

Response 2:
Trump can store that next to his #1 Dad coffee mug.

His smile -- is that not a three-year-old who grabbed a teddy bear from his cousin? Trump clearly had no parenting at all.
"Donald! That is not yours! You give that back this instant, do you hear me?"
"Fuck off, Mom. It is so mine. I took it."
(Mom opens another wine cooler.) "Have it your way, Donald."

President pardons person for the second time. (shared link)

article said:
In 2021, a convicted fraudster named Adriana Camberos was freed from prison when President Trump commuted her sentence.

Rather than taking advantage of that second chance, prosecutors said, Ms. Camberos returned to crime. She and her brother were convicted in 2024 in an unrelated fraud.

This week, Mr. Trump pardoned both siblings, marking the second time Mr. Trump had opened the prison gates for Ms. Camberos.

First crime (unshared link)
article said:
In December 2019, Adriana Camberos began serving a 26-month sentence in federal prison for her role in a scheme to sell millions of counterfeit bottles of the caffeinated drink 5-hour Energy that had been filled with a fake concoction and sold to unsuspecting consumers.

Second crime (same link)
article said:
Soon after her commutation, she and her brother Andres embarked on a new fraud, federal prosecutors in California said. The siblings were charged last year in a complicated scheme: They bought consumer goods from manufacturers at a steep discount, purportedly to sell them in Mexico — a legal practice. Instead, prosecutors said, the siblings sold the goods in the United States at higher prices and then committed bank and mail fraud to cover their tracks.
Remember back when this would have been a scandal for any other President that had ever existed?

I'm watching Breakdown: 1975 on Netflix, and highly recommend it. I was 25 years old then and so consumed by my career that I had no idea what was going on in the world.

I would wish to be just as ignorant about what is going on now, half a century later.

Senator Frank Church in 1975 said:
If a dictator ever took charge in this country, the technological capacity that the intelligence community has given the government could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back.

I have NOT fully vetted this but if it’s a rumor it is a widely accepted one.
And it’s precisely what I would have predicated. Fucking treasonous bastard.

I'm going to "gift" an article that goes into detail about all the illegal or abuse of power things that Trump has done since taking office. I hope some will read it. I'll paste a little bit to give you and idea. It's long.

In his second term, President Trump has sought to expand executive power in many ways.

A list of the different presidential powers President Trump has sought in his second term.
One area where he is centralizing his authority is over the executive branch.

He is pushing a maximalist version of the unitary executive theory, which is the idea that presidents have absolute power over executive branch decision-making — even if Congress has enacted laws giving some independent discretion to officials at departments or agencies.

A circle chart showing the presidential powers Mr. Trump has sought for himself under the unitary executive theory.
Many of Mr. Trump’s attempts to expand power span multiple categories.

For example, in ordering criminal investigations into his political adversaries, he is both weaponizing the government and asserting greater executive power over the Justice Department.

ETA: The sentence "Trump sent it to Putin right away" gets several hits on Google search. But it seems to be scrubbed off from the several links I tried.

Lots of reddit, facebook, fishbowl and numerous open publishing sites are featuring this story.
So it's probably fiction. But it also reeks of Trump, fiction or not.

Many feared dead as Snopes server explodes at their HQ. Investigators are just starting to look at what happened, however, many fear the explosion was triggered by this Trump statement to press yesterday

I saw this on Reuters this morning, so it shouldn't be AI.

I said it in the Greenland thread and I'll say it here. Our stupid man-baby president is having a temper tantrum.

And the GOP seems to be fully on board with it as are most of the self described libertarians.

I was just watching Chris Hayes' show and caught the ad for -- holy goddamn --
MELANIA - ONLY IN THEATERS
The premiere will be Jan. 30 at the Kennedy (Period.) Center.
Then, out to your local cineplex. Any predictions? I think this thing will come and go in a weekend and a few days of the following week. I don't think even the Maggiest MAGAs care much about Mrs. Trump. (For one thing, they must have a sneaking suspicion that her devotion to Donald is about at the same level as Tucker Carlson's.)
Also -- if Melania's team is advertising this thing on Hayes' show -- are their heads up their asses?

In hell, Satan makes you watch Trump speak.

Incredible how our resident "conservatives" are nowhere to be seen, except here or there in some niche thread on transgender rights or the like.

It's the base I think about in this context. How exciting it must be, to be in the much-discussed MAGA base, to adjust your reality to whatever Trump babbles. You never know what amazing fact or movement you'll be supporting with all your heart. At the start they had the wall that Mexico would pay for; global warming an illusion created by China; Trump's actual 2016 vote count being a landslide. By the end of Trump One, they had to encompass ivermectin and hydroxy being good meds for covid; Scalia being smothered by a pillow; low-flow toilets being flushed 15 times; Arab terrorists in the Caravan; Obama being guilty of treason (with so, so many others on the traitor list.) In Trump Two, the riches overflow: his 2020 loss was actually a landslide win; God saved Trump; the Jan. 6 criminals were 'unbelievable patriots'; Springfield has cats 'n' dogs barbecues; 'y'know, that Arnold Palmer had a wiener like a baseball bat'; tariffs are paid by other countries; vaccines cause autism; medbeds might be a thing; the protesters are always paid; Trump can bring drug prices down by, you name it, 40%, 60%, 100%, why not 200%. Or why not 800%.
Now Greenland. I propose the new word crimey as a MAGA phenomenon.
crimey (adj.) 1. suddenly disposed to contravene established law, on the whim of an idol.
2. feeling virtuous about this change of heart.
Ex. "You know, I'm starting to feel crimey about Greenland."
"It's time to go crimey on Minneapolis."
"You just wait. We're gonna go straight up crimey on the wokes."

I was certain that the boards resident insufferable prick would be creating thread after thread of moronic nicknames and Daily Fail articles discussing how old and feeble the president is. I guess he doesn't have a nickname as good as "Brandon" yet.
