Also the 12th amendment says "“no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.” So he could not run as Vice President and then an elected President resign to make him president.
Of all the Orwellian BS that comes out of the Felon and his MAGAdards, they love to tout the Constitution but know nothing and care nothing about it.
It would still be possible for the Felon to be Speaker of the House and have the President and Vice President resign I guess.
Of course, in 4 years the constitution could be worthless with the courts gone and Congress a rubber stamp.

I guess the Speaker has (rightly) figured that since "ruling against Trump" doesn't rise to the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors" for impeachment, they'll simply shut down whatever district courts rule against him.

I avoid books by or about politicians; but passing the bargain-book stand on Central Airport's ground floor I saw the hardback Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House by Michael Wolff on sale for ฿50 ($1.50). This seemed too cheap to pass up even though its 2018 date made it rather out-of-date I've just started to read this fine book.
I remember Trump-45 as sort of an absurdist farce, at least compared with the horror and tragedy of Trump-47. But it's educational to look at Trump, Kushner etc. before they morphed so grotesquely that they no longer resemble human beings. The book tells of bizarre incidents that didn't make their way into headlines, and offers detailed understanding of Trump, Bannon, etc.
Wolff's writing is delicious; and I am learning MUCH that I did not know. I highly recommend this book.

When I first visited Thailand decades ago ฿5500 was enough for a hefty 1-baht necklace, or a little less for a simple bar. And old-timers remember when the price was just a small fraction of that. I didn't check the price at a gold shop but simple calculation shows ฿50,400 as the probable bullion sell price. We've watched stupefied as the price rose 40,000; 42,000; 45,000; 46,000 etc. Now it's FIFTY thousand. With two Fs.
Almost simultaneously, another record was set. For about a century, gold sold in New York City for 66½¢ per gram, though almost $2 of "legal tender paper" was needed for that gram at the height of the Civil War. In 1933 FDR set the official price of gold at $1.12½ per gram. A gram of gold cost MORE than a dollar! After 1979, gold mostly sold for a TWO-digit number, though dipping to a single digit during the Clinton boom, only $8.13 in 1999.
Today the price of gold was a THREE-digit number: $100.70 per gram. Yes, that's a record.

I have that book on my kindle but I read so many books, that I'm not even sure if I read that one. I did enjoy Liz Cheney's book about Trump, one honest Republican, who Trump would like to put in prison.

Actually a lot of people think, and I tend to agree that he spouts this shit as a way to keep us from thinking of the current damage he is doing. A close friend and mine and me think he will be dead before the end of his term. If not, dead, too senile to complete a half was coherent sentence.
It's hard to say how far this will go. We could be in a total autocracy, or it could go back and forth from partial autocracy to crappy half hearted democracy. I'm not as pessimistic as most of you, but I do believe the MAGA cult is doing severe damage to the country and it will be very hard to fix the damage.

I suspect it’s the opposite; all the mayhem serves to distract from the fact that this is ALL about The Felon’s self preservation.
He’s fucking toast as soon as he loses the blanket immunity of the office, so this ground-softening exercise is of the utmost importance. It doesn’t matter if he “can” run; he is running now. (Is that illegal?)
There is virtually no enforcement of FEC rules. It is evenly split and the tie goes to the cheaters. Trump is trying to replace the chair illegally, and nobody is even calling him out on it.
If necessary, Trump will invoke his nearly limitless ability to manufacture crises, to create an epic emergency “like nobody has ever seen before” in 2028.
This excuse, to either cancel the ‘28 election or keep his name in the hat as the GQP candidate.

I seriously doubt any of that will happen. Plus, most of the cases against him have been dropped and/or it will be too late to convict him. He will not get a third term and I doubt he will be convicted of anything, despite his criminal behavior. At worst, the charges will be dropped for reason of insanity, as he clearly is mentally ill.
If he is alive, he will likely be in a nursing home or at home with full time caretakers. Believe me.I've cared for many patients with similar symptoms. His mental illness and cognition are getting much worse than in the past. Of course Vance is also a threat, so if he runs, we may be in trouble if he can keep the MAGA cult going. Still more Trumpers are losing their desire to see him remain in office, so there is hope imo. If and when stagflation comes back, that may be the thing that finally wakes up most of the rest.
Yet, people are still up in arms about Biden showing signs of losing it. Compared to Trump, Biden was still quite lucid. He just got very anxious and fucked up a debate. He shouldn't have tried to run for a second term, but as Bill Maher once said. "I'd vote for Biden's head in a jar full of blue water before I'd vote for Trump."

Unless the rate of change is accelerating more than I can perceive, lasting another 6-8 years isn't an unreasonable expectation. I provisionally defer to your real-life experience with the similarly afflicted, but somehow find it non-reassuring.
Maybe it's that these magats appear willing to write the fucker's name in even if he's not on the ticket and all he can do any more is drool.

What bothers me is how little pushback is coming from the GOP Senators. Almost nothing... bad. And when Trump had his Ukraine tantrum, Sen. Graham was out their whoring for this despicable asshat.
Hopefully Wednesday the Dems pull off a ridiculous upset in one of the seats in Florida. In order to hopefully put some breaks on the nonsense... or they might just speed up the dystopian transition.

I'll be shocked if the Dems win in that district in Florida, considering how conservative it is, but if they do win, it should give us all a lot of hope. Let the damn MAGA cult rage. it's not going to get them anywhere, even if they do something like an insurrection at the Florida capital. 
And, even SCOTUS isn't going to support them if they try to deny the Dem won the election, if that actually happens. Sure, at least 3 three dumbest MAGAs will, but I think Roberts and Barrett are beginning to see the light. The other four can go fuck themselves if necessary.

I'd say Stefanik's district was much more at risk than the FL districts. I'm not expecting upsets, because the upsets in those districts would be massive. The money raised would be more important if it was all local, but it isn't.
