Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

OK. As much as I hate tRump I must say all the talk about his health and age is just more distraction from the real issue
Pool guys say this would happen no matter who did it. The $14mil would have been better spent on a new filtration system!!
Nano oxidation is the latest tech.
His old I am old. But, I know I could have made better plans.
Mrs Anderson’s kindergarten class could have made better plans.

Okay, enough about the pool. DC has been struggling with leaks and algae for decades in the reflection pool. That Trump took a victory lap for solving the problem the day it was completed makes him look silly, but algae in shallow pools of water in the heat isn't some sort of Trump invention.
Some of that "leaking" was intentional. Then fresh water would replace the water that leaked keaping the water cleaner. Painting and sealing the bottom in a dark color just made the water warmer and much more prone to algae bloom.
From Threads:
I clean actual swimming pools for a living. This will not work. The reflection pool used to act much like a natural body of water with natural filtration. It would (leak) drain through the granite and new water was added. Now it’s been “sealed” with polyurethane and will no longer drain itself and the standing water will grow even MORE algae. With circulation and filtration added, it will no longer be a reflecting pool. Only still water perfectly reflects. It’s ruined.
Are you sure about that? Back in the earlier renovation, they made a concerted effort to seal it to make it watertight:

THE REFLECTING POOL THAT TOURIST COME TO SEE

The new reflecting pool is founded on 2,133 timber piles driven into the bedrock to providing more stable support. Corman Construction Inc., decided to utilize a watertight concrete system provided by Sika Corporation in order to meet the project specifications.

In conjunction with Sika concrete admixtures, Sika Greenstreak hydrophilic joint sealing strip Hydrotite was used at all construction joints to provide a whole system solution. This system approach to watertight construction is referred to as Sika’s “Whitebox”.

And if adding circulation and filtration ruined it, then its already been ruined for many years:
Besides the pool renovation itself, the additional water management improvements included new water re-circulating machinery, a new pump building, which houses a second set of re-circulating pumps, a filtration system and ozone disinfection.

Wait... what? Timber piles driven into bedrock?! They mean "onto" right? Looks like rock is about 40 feet, so that is a viable depth. DC isn't exactly the best place for foundations. It isn't New Orleans bad, but the swamp is rough on structures.

Also, apparently I was unaware that they replaced the entire pool in 2009. And it would explain the much higher cost, and make one wonder why Trump mentioned why it cost so much when one plan involved the entire replacement of the pool plus a large deep foundation system. Trump just had them seal and paint it.

A major flu outbreak has sickened nearly 160 troops at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas less than two months after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. troops would no longer be required to be vaccinated for the flu, defense officials said.

The outbreak at the base in San Antonio raced through an Air Force Basic Military Training wing, where new recruits sleep on bunk beds in open bays and share meals at large communal tables.

A trainee in his sixth week of basic training died after falling ill on Friday and being taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, the Air Force said in a news release. It was not immediately clear whether the death of the trainee, Keon McDaniel, was related to the flu outbreak.

A comprehensive medical review into his death is underway to determine the cause, according to the Air Force.

In the weeks since Mr. Hegseth’s vaccine policy took effect on April 21, only about 40 percent of Air Force trainees have opted to take the vaccine, which had previously been mandatory, an Air Force official said.

In the aftermath of the outbreak, the Air Force issued an exception to the voluntary vaccine policy, requiring that all recruits at Lackland get flu shots — part of a broader effort to stem the virus’s spread.

Mr. Hegseth cast his decision to make the flu vaccine optional as a matter of religious freedom and medical autonomy.

“Under the disastrous Biden administration, this Pentagon waged an unrelenting war on our warriors on many fronts, including when it came to denying them simple medical autonomy and the freedom to express their religious convictions,” he said in a video announcing his decision in April.

He described the flu vaccine requirement as an “absurd, overreaching” mandate that had served to “weaken our warfighting capabilities.”

At the time, many lawmakers, including some prominent Republicans, expressed puzzlement and dismay at Mr. Hegseth’s decision.

Natural bottom, or at last natural bottom color. and flow through with short water residence time. There’s a big river next door. You don’t need filtered recirculating water.

Malice. Never give the grace of assuming incompetence. He knows or should know better. Therefore he should be treated as intentionally causing illness and death. So should all anti-vaxxers that spread disinformation.

So, where is the medical autonomy (and indeed religious freedom) of women who need abortions for clear medical reasons, to save their lives? When this administration leaves office, there should be a massive number of prosecutions of them for manslaughter and assault, in relation to this air force death, the women killed or disabled by improper anti-abortion practices, and of course many other cases.

So apparently the Qatari plane is about to become Air Force One.
article said:
But Trump is considering taking the new Qatari jet on its inaugural flight when he travels to Mount Rushmore next month as part of celebrations for America's 250th anniversary, NBC News reported.

The US Air Force said in May that the Qatari jet had completed flight testing and would soon be ready for action, adding that it was "on schedule to roll out in a new red, white and blue livery this summer."

On Thursday the US Air Force confirmed to AFP that the Qatari plane, known as the VC-25B Bridge aircraft, "will soon join the active executive airlift fleet alongside the VC-25A and C-32."

What, am I supposed to say algae can grow in the river, but not the reflection pool?

The thing about the algae in the reflecting pool is not that it came back. It's Trump's bragging and boasting and his all about how wonderful he is bullshit and it still came back.

Ya Obama tried to fix it and so did several presidents prior to Obama. But none of them boasted about how wonderful and amazing and smart and how they are the greatest president since Washington - or even better than Washington.

It's Trump's big stupid fucking lying mouth that gets him roasted on this - and his not bid contract to his neighbor in Florida.

This pool story just keeps on giving. The company hired to fix the filtration is called Greenwater Services. 😂😂😂

And this is the guy who runs the company.

Also from that article,

In a public filing, the Park Service said that multiple firms had expressed interest in providing such a system. But in April, it gave the work directly to Greenwater Services, a company that federal records show had received only one other federal contract.

The Park Service justified its decision to bypass competition by citing an exemption meant for urgent situations: It said there was no time to consider other offers because the system had to be installed in time for events celebrating the country’s 250th birthday. That document did not give a specific date by which the system had to be installed.

Another no-bid contract for $14.7 million had been awarded to a Virginia firm, Atlantic Industrial Coatings, for the same reason of urgent need. That business was paid to spread blue waterproofing material on the pool’s concrete floor.

That work, too, shows signs of potential trouble. On Thursday, a section of the pool’s new layer of blue waterproofing appeared to have detached from the bottom and floated to the pool’s surface.
