Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

The first "president" so stupid he was outwitted by a single celled organism.

Wattabout the algae in the Reflecting Pool during the Obama years?

The entirety of mankind (with all its geniuses working hard for hundreds of years), has, and continues to be, outwitted by single celled organisms. Though we have managed to "outwit" some of them thanks to vector control, vaccinations and various therapies.
Correct. And when the single celled organism outwitted previous Presidents, people weren't arrested. Allegations of a conspiracy of vandals were not reported.

Correct, too. But that's not related to the statement made by Zip. If he would have said Trump handled the whole thing much more recklessly and haphazardly than Obama, then he would gotten no disagreement from me. Algae bloom has stumped both presidents. Not to mention scientists and engineers.
There may be better instances to white knight Trump than this fiasco. Quit while you are only a little bit behind.

Trump wrote the book “The Art of Microbiology”. He knows box cutter damage when he sees it.

Trump also knows pools, and he knows nobody can cut through their super duper unobtainium sealant.

“This will last for at least 50 years and you’ll never have a leak,” Trump said at the time. “I don’t want to give anybody ideas, [but] if you had a knife, you can’t even cut it. So strong, so powerful. It’s like powerful rubber.”

It's spray on truck bedliner. Trump is a moron.

Cue the scene of Sean Connery bursting through plastic film in Zardoz.

Magats are quietly abandoning Trump.

Are they, though? None of the MAGATs that I know are actually opposing him. My impression is "we like what he says still... He's our guy! We just won't admit to it publicly".

Ironically, Doug and I have had a couple of trucks coated with that stuff. It was super tough, really you couldn't cut through it with a knife. It was great!
But it wasn't a pool, it was a truck bed. And properly applied.

Yeah, this is a strange fucking hill thebeave has decided to die on. Also strange he didn't address your points here.

Yup. If the surface isn't completely clean, say it's contaminated by slimy algae, the stuff won't adhere to the surface

Yep. Proper preparation is key with these applications. And this was a rush job. Generally it requires media blasting or grinding so the coating can bite, pressure washing, drying, vacuuming. Truck bed liners and powder coating will also quickly peel off if not properly prepped. You'd be hard-pressed to chip any of these coatings with a hammer if applied correctly. The front bumper of my Tacoma is powder coated. I tired scraping a Ford Escort against it once. All it left was a scuff mark. Then there's the non-skid applied to the decks of ocean going vessels. Fuck me, removing that shit is a nightmare. We had our own special little tool called a deck crawler for turning it into a cloud of silica and heavy metals. These were the pre-PPE days.

Trump is a moron, but he's a tenacious moron. He's latched onto this narrative that it was a vandal (or group of vandals) who attacked the bedliner/paint job with a razor or box cutter, and even if you sat him down and showed him what a box cutter looks like (he doesn't know) and asked him how long it would take to cut a gash the length of a football field into the bottom off the pool, he'd probably scream at you and say "you're a bad reporter and your news organization is fake."

Even if you weren't a reporter.

He's been leaning into a few nutty narratives as he slips into cognitive decline lately, including the idea that Iran was "two weeks away" from a nuclear weapon even though it had all been "obliterated," that nobody has ever heard of "Barack Hussein Obama," and that the US is the "hottest country in the world" now despite being "completely destroyed" less than 2 years ago. The only thing more tenacious than his litany of idiotic statements is how tenacious his sycophants are at defending his wild proclamations, and just how far they'll all go to redirect any challenge to blaming everything on Joe Biden.

Yep. Another example is painting a garage floor with an epoxy paint so it stays put for years. The easy part is the actual application of the paint. The prep is the lengthy tedious process. Thorough removal of all oil stains, followed by acid washing and rinsing of the concrete with long dry times in between. Some people try to shortcut the prep process and before long the paint has started pulling up.

A guy recently tried scraping his Chevy Silverado against my Tacoma at 60 mph. I'm happy to report that very little paint was exchanged or peeled off in the process, despite substantial body damage. Good to see the auto manufacturers had their shit together here. I have seen quite a few vehicles where there was obviously a major fuck up in the paint process at the factory. My dad's GM truck paint was peeling big sheets of paint within the first few years, leaving just the primer.

I think that Hillary and Kamala feel the following sentiment. Hell, I didn't run for office and I feel the same way:

You know you're not fooling anyone, right?
