What Exactly is this Benghazi Scandal?

I am an average American, so could someone explain to me what is this scandal the GOP is trying to blow up?

Is it really just that the administration asked someone to use talking points on Sunday morning talk shows?

I don't really know why it's supposed to be a scandal. They're not trying to cover it up or anything and ... I really can't figure out the outrage. Fox et al are trying to get people all worked up about it and most that I've seen respond with a mild "huh?"

From what I know, when the attack happened there were protests in several countries about a really nasty anti-islamic movie that had gotten put online. There was some confusion at the time if the attack in Benghazi was one of the protests, or if it was a planned terrorist attack that used it as cover. The State Department was trying to give reporters what they knew at the time, which of course changed as they were getting new reports from the CIA.

Now for the 'scandal' part. That the official story that was put out changed was Obviously a sign the White House, or Hillary, was covering up something. The conspiracy stories then started to get more bizarre, like claiming the military had people that could have gotten there in time to help (they didn't) but the White House told them to stand down. Not sure what other theories have been floated. I do remember one Republican congressman at one of the hearings saying they could have gotten help from the secret CIA safehouse that was nearby, pointing out the SECRET CIA facility on a map.

The investigations have resulted in as much real scandal as Whitewater. In other words, nothing, but they need a scandal to campaign and fundraise on, so the investigation continues.

Because of course the White House is like the movies, where you can see live video from anywhere in the world instantly. Probably on one of those 6 foot tall video screens in a room full of agents furiously tapping away at consoles, who are able to pull up any piece of information you want instantly.

Yeah, I saw a comment somewhere asking we don't know what Obama and Clinton were doing in the 7 hours of the attack. They might be interested in what children's book Obama was reading, while hell was coming down. Also why didn't Obama send in our super Omega squad missiles that can target individual bad guys with its awesome bad guy detecting powers.

What you guys need is one of those military satellites that fire laser beams. That way, Obama can sit in the White House and fry any terrorists on the planet in real time and not need to worry about this type of problem in the future.

And you make no mention of the fact that Obama was clearly working with the terrorists. In fact you suggest that he didn't react fast enough, which implies that he is working against the terrorists, which proves that you are just another gullible sheep regurgitating the lies from the lamestream media!
