Harris claimed that he couldn’t take it anymore after months of abuse. One day, he decided to use his phone to record his attempt at drinking from the fountain.

In the recording, the supervisor is apparently heard saying, “Hey! I need to put a sign here that says, ‘White people only.’”

Harris also recorded his efforts at accessing the microwave. “I am going to use the microwave,” he is later heard saying.

“Hell no!” the supervisor angrily yells back.

“Why can’t I use the microwave, man?” Harris inquires.

“Because you are not White,” the supervisor responds. During the recording, the supervisor also shows a fondness for pre-segregation times.

“Back then, nobody thought anything about it. Now everybody is made [to] think it’s bad,” he is heard saying.

Harris soon decides to defy the rule. “Put your sign on the wall then, because I am feeling to drink it,” says Harris. “What would they do when they catch me drinking your water?”

The supervisor’s answer is shocking: “That`s when we hang you.”

That's creepy.

Still, it's nice to see someone who's willing to be open and upfront about his racism as opposed to hiding it because it makes the lawsuits that much easier.

Now that looks like actual racism and not like this modern stuff about misinterpreting innocuous stuff as nanoaggressions or complaining about disparate outcomes (except in places like the NBA).

A friend of mine was fired for using a racial slur at his work place. He was a yard manager for a pipe company. It was his job to supervise loading of the trucks and make sure each order was correct. One day, he looked out the window and saw the entire crew taking a break, sitting on a stack of pipe. He picked up the intercom mike and said, "Youse guys look like a bunch of monkeys on a rock." He is from New Jersey, which explains why he said "youse." The next morning, he was called in the office and terminated.

As I said, he was born and raised in New Jersey, so I don't know where he got that kind of attitude.

if the ignorance and hate gets to heavy, feel free to put them down and pick up a book.

The more you know... :)

He's an idiot--he should have made that recording the second or third time it happened. It's a one-party state, no reason not to.

There are some assholes in the world, one just got exposed. Kudos to him despite the delay in taking action.

who is an idiot?

And just who are you to tell a black man working in a cotton warehouse in TN when the proper time is to stand up to a boss who thinks it's 1940 and that lynching isn't so bad?

He's not going to be lynched. The worst the boss can do is fire him--and that would be pure gold for this guy.

...or maybe he's an honest working man who just wants to do his job without being harassed, and didn't jump on the lawsuit train after the first incident because most people would prefer to live their lives quietly. Only after several incidents did he become convinced that it wasn't an isolated thing, and took appropriate action.

Why do you immediately assume the worst?

Don't come south. Don't give black folk advice. And for goodness sake, dont say the things you say here out in the real world. I don't want to see you get hurt.

What, racism doesn't exist north of the Mason-Dixon?

This is a particularly absurd variant on the general anti-Southern prejudice found around here.

I think that was meant sarcastically.

Bronzeage is a Southerner, so even if it wasn't sarcastically, it's more a case of "I wouldn't be surprised from one of our guys, but I expected them to be above this shit", and less one of "and he isn't even one of them".

Making the recording doesn't inherently mean you're jumping on the lawsuit train.

Make the recording, take it to the supervisor's boss.
