Don't complain, every year Americans are killing 30,000 Americans by gunshot alone. That's about a million in 30 years. And that doesn't seem to be a problem to most Americans.

Nobody knows what Trump will do and what the power structure in America will let him get away with. Trump is more of a symptom than a cause but he seems to be a rather dangerous symptom all the same. It's a good time to be getting old.

Don't delude yourself though. If anything bad happened during Trump's tenure, he won't be the only one responsible. People are killing other people around the world and would keep doing it without any American meddling. It's even possible that less killing occurred because of the Americans although I wouldn't put my money on it.

Europeans have been doing less killing these days but that's because we had our fill with WWI and WWII. So apparently people can learn if you kill enough of them. America has been relatively spared on these two occasions so this may partly explain its being a little bit too enthusiastic about bombing civilian populations. Unfortunately, discussing these issues using rational arguments doesn't seem to work too well. Europe was the most civilised part of the world when both WWI and WWII occurred.

Humans can be smart but apparently not smart enough. Or those who are smarter maybe tend to use their brains to get rich instead of trying to make society safe.

Religion is a cop out. What is so special about Arabs being killed as opposed to 30,000 Americans year after year after year? Millions of people are also killed throughout the world for just as idiotic reasons and just as preventable causes. We should spend our time trying to think how to stop the killing. Praying imaginary and therefore powerless gods is a waste of time but I guess we're not smart enough to see that.
