"The report noted that Rainey’s body temperature when it was pulled without a pulse from the correctional facility’s shower was a volcanic 104.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Mr. Rainey was burned over 90% of his body, skin was hot/warm to touch and skin comes off when touched,”

"After he was removed, Rainey’s fellow inmate Joiner told the Herald he was handed a bottle of Clorox bleach and told to scoop up “large chunks of human skin.”"

From the article
source close to the investigation told The Daily Beast that the incident, while tragic, was an “anomaly” and that it involved two guards at the jail “that made a really stupid decision, but neither one meant to harm or kill Darren Rainey.”

“I think they made a stupid decision and he had health issues that were exacerbated,” the source said.
Jesus Christ

The corrections officers in question with Rainey’s demise could still get hit with manslaughter charges if the the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office finds enough evidence that the steaming two-hour shower was deemed a criminal act.
Anyone else think we are going to find out the circumstances that make this steaming 2 hour shower not a criminal act?

Both guards are no longer working at the correctional facility, but at least one, a source confirmed, is now a cop.

It usually is only used to torture the prisoners, but like all torture devices it can kill. I put nothing past what prison guards can do. One who seeks a career punishing people gets more and more accute about the punishment aspect of their job over time. That is especially so in underfunded facilities manned by ignorant people left to their own devices. It kind of smacks of the kind of thing suggested by the novel Lord of the Flies. No oversight and no guidance...and this is terrible but by no means the worst thing prison guards have done.

God damn. I can't think of many ways it would be worse to go.

I'd say this would sound unrealistic for a television program or movie. Not the death, but a multi-year autopsy?!

Strange how much information they have that would be awfully hard to verify.

While I could believe guards doing something like that (retaliation for making their job harder) I have my doubts here.

Is the placement of the picture of that delicious bowl of BBQ following the article purely coincidental? I mean, talking about cooking someone and then that?

It's certainly in poor taste - and it being mere coincidence is pretty tough to swallow.

Pun aside, I think their ad placement algorithm just picked up on the "cooked" keyword, rather than a human being putting it there.

You can offer an alternate scenario. Maybe it was suicide by parboiling.
