Fun fact. When the IRGC sends assassins round the world to murder escaped dissidents, they make copies of existing passport belonging to random innocent living expats, creating endless havoc and problems for them. Trump is still alive and his works get worse with time, while Hitler is dead and his works finished. When people like JD Vance compare Trump to Hitler, they compare Trump to the point around when he gained power after his failed coup attempt and before the worst of it. No one claims that Trump is responsible for millions of deaths at this point in time, but instead that he is changing institutions, engaging in rhetoric that makes an Other class of people and an Ubermenschen, and setting up kangaroo courts. Trump has parallels to a young Hitler and is on a trajectory to do catastrophic damage, like destroying an entire civilization. Some people in the thread wouldn't care less and probably would applaud.

I think you’re missing the point. Judgments like that depend a lot on where you’re standing. From the perspective of people who have been on the receiving end of U.S. foreign policy, the moral picture doesn’t look nearly as clear-cut.

That doesn’t mean I'm saying that “everyone is equally bad.” It means that’s Derek’s opinion, not a universal truth. Depending on where you’re standing, the “world police” doesn’t look as spotless as Derec's making it out to be.

You're acting like the USA could pass a criminal background check for the “world police” job and not have HR frightened to death halfway through its file.
