Not Obama. Not Clinton.
It's your neighbors.
It's the more than 1-in-2 people around you who think you're a violent nut for refusing background checks and retailer inventories.

They think anyone who cannot see that the current gun atmosphere as deadly is nuts and should not own a gun.
It's society - maturing without you.

Reasonable and mature people frighten me. I think I'll buy a few more guns to protect myself from this potential threat.

Don't forget a 10 years' supply of ammo and your lifetime NRA membership.

Get it straight guys, Gun Owners of America is the true patriotic gun nut group to join not the liberal dick-sucking National Rifle Association.

Debating whether or not to google that. Thinking I don't want to infect my computer with gun porn. Do you have a quote from their mission statement?

Load up on steel, hardwood, gun powder, shell casings, bullet molding equipment, lathes, mills, and other necessary equipment for manufacturing personal and militarized weapons and a damn big camera based security system hooked up to computer and weapons control systems to prevent them from getting to my door.

Seriously. This is what gun rights activists should be doing rather than pissing off more and more people with in your face legislative buy offs and gun permissive laws.

Remember the good old days when we just built bomb shelters.

They're not just crazy. They're stupid. I love the open carry types. Such dumb ass targets. If I'm going to rob the Piggly Wiggly, the very first thing I'm going to do is shoot the dumb fuck with the AR-15 on his back.

The problem is they always try to overreach with the background checks.

I favor background checks to get a gun license. Background checks on transfer are a big problem, though--because they apply to things like loaning a gun to a friend.

Oh, YEAH! Good point! We wouldn't want, say, Adam Lanza's mother to have any problem giving him a weapon! Loren, I don't know what we'd do without you.

How is that a problem as opposed to a really fucking good idea?

If you loan your gun to somebody who shouldn't have a gun and he commits a crime with it, you should share the criminal responsibility. The gun is your property, so the onus would be on you to make sure that it doesn't get into the wrong hands.

It's sort of like how if you pass a security check to be able to see classified information, the onus is on you to make sure that anyone you discuss this classified information with has passed a similar security check. If you don't make sure of this, you're the one at fault.

Gun owners should be criminally responsible for acts their gun is used in. They should be legally responsible to keep close track of the whereabouts of all guns registered to them, which means reporting any missing gun within 30 days (IOW, keeping stock at least every 30 days). In anticipation to the many false analogies this rule is likely to trigger, they are all invalid unless the object in question is, like guns are, expressly designed for the purpose of quick and easy killing of other living things, and in the case of handguns, of humans specifically.

It's a new idea. We call it, being "responsible".

It revokes your citizenship to Dumbfuckistan.

And why exactly do you need a gun? Who do you feel you must kill? Somewhere in your gun loving agenda there is a place for killing. You make it so important. It sure keeps those lathes spinning in CT and MA., churning out the machines of destruction and putting them in the hands of avid kill crazy lunatics. Maybe you are a "responsible" kill crazy lunatic who only uses his guns on BAD GUYS. The fewer guns there are around me, the safer I feel. Guns are a liability in the hands of lunatics, people who are incompetent, children, and people with faux patriotic ideas.

Exactly. For example, I own several guns and no one has ever asked me for a background check. If they knew I was a LIBERAL and an ATHEIST do you think they'd finally see why background checks are necessary?!?

The problem is $25 at a dealership to give them the gun, $25 at the dealership to get it back.

If we took the license approach that I've been advocating the cost would be $0 and wouldn't need to be at a dealership.

Gah, you're right. At fifty bucks it's not worth it to keep them out of criminal hands. That's real money right there.

And loaning a gun to a friend who is too mentally disturbed to pass a simple background check is something that should be encouraged to happen as frequently as possible, because reasons.

Crime and murder rates have been steadily going down for decades now. The anti-gun nuts are the crazy paranoid ones here.

They've been going down in the rest of the Western world as well. Your guns aren't involved in the drop in the crime rate. All they've done is gotten a lot more innocents killed unnecessarily than you have in places with less guns.

Being anti-gun is no more crazy than being anti-arsenic and saying that people should drink more water instead. Drinking arsenic doesn't protect you from poisoning, no matter how much the pro-arsenic folks say that it does.
