Trump Is Indicted. Jack Smith succeeds.

For the benefit of the rest of the world could you either
1. charge him
2. Find him guilty or innocent
3. Shut up about Trump

This soap opera has long exceeded its ridiculous level.
Just to make things clear, this is ultra-unprecedented in our history. While there are sentencing guidelines and even required term lengths, we've never had this happen and have virtually no legal precedent for proceeding with this. In other words, Jack Smith has crossed every t and dotted every i 20 times.

Mike Pence screwed Trump. It seems as all this election theft plotting started with Trump, in all his interactions with Trump, Pence kept copiouss detailed notes. Many meetings with Trump were done without Trump's lawyers in the loop, since they were telling Trump all the claims of illegal votes were false. The interesting thing here is Pence has been trying to avoid publically commenting on what he knew was going on with Trump's election stealing crimes. It is going to be hard from here on out to remain vague and uncommunicative.
It looks like Pence pulled a reverse a Agnew. He even released a statement that was pretty damning.

For the benefit of the rest of us, you should either
1. Ignore this thread
2. Discuss the topic
3. Shut up about Trump

Leave it to the rest of us to enjoy the soap opera.
To be clear, this isn't enjoyment. This isn't even relief. That Trump pushed the boundaries to such levels to warrant this is a tragedy for the country of bigly proportions. And nearly one half of the House want to riot now. This isn't done. And it doesn't even matter when Smith's case makes Trump's guilt obvious to a three year old. The GOP in the House needs to accept the findings or we have big problems.

That’s all true; I tried (poorly, it seems) to let @Tigers! know that even in the best case scenario, it will take several years to put the scumbag safely in jail. Meanwhile he remains the head of a violent nationwide cult that will spare no tactic in trying to preserve his freedom - at the cost of American democracy.
It will be interesting to see how entities like FOX will try to finesse the fact the “all the best people”, handpicked by the Donald, are the ones testifying against him - NOT any mythical ”Deep State”.

And let me introduce to you, Judge Tanya Chutkan:

Good fuckin’ luck, dickweed!
Black Girl Power!!!
Great. More reason for MAGA folks to believe in Trump's persecution.
Until the number one witness is Mr. Christian White Boy (R-IN).

Today's indictment serves as an important reminder: Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be president of the United States.
Christian White Boy (R-IN) said:
On January 6th, former President Trump demanded that I choose between him and the Constitution. I chose the Constitution, and I always will.
It is odd because he made counter claims about 'no one is above the law, but...'.

At some point we need to stop worrying about what MAGAt morons think, and hope we sufficiently outnumber them at the polls.
Many of them are write-offs, and it’s a waste of energy trying instill in them the honesty and intelligence required for them to let go of orange Jesus. It‘s probably more effective to just work on turnout.

I'm not worried as much about the Trump cult, I'm worried about the Alt-Right in the House, that voted for this election theft and are speaking very aggressively against the indictment. We might never heal from the Trump presidency. The GOP is too damn lost to allow it.

I love that the, uh, “unnamed co-conspirators” were nonetheless associated with well-known, widely publicized quotes and actions, so everyone knows who they are. (With one exception.)
Deranged Jack Smith couldn’t be telegraphing more clearly: “this bus IS going to get there; you can be on it, or you can be under it, and I don’t really give a rat’s ass which one you pick.”

Being a gay man living in Pence's Indiana,

I've got plenty of reasons for despising nearly everything Pence has done politically and stood for philosophically.

He's come up several notches in my book since Jan6 Insurrection. I still don't want him anywhere near federal government power. But if he ran for county council...

I’m sure Jack would prefer they be cooperating witnesses rather than defendants.

They not likely to get off without a guilty plea for some “lesser charge”, and probably some days in jail. This is not just another mob thing where Rudi et al were just running numbers.

And he will be a key witness at the trial, probably the star witness.

I suspect the trial will be around June of next year. Trump will do everything he can to delay it beyond then, but I bet this judge won’t let that happen. The jury pool in DC is not likely to be friendly with Trump. The judge is an African American female appointed by Obama. he’s toast if he can’t get this thing stopped. But what’s the impact? Even if he is convicted, it does not bar him from being elected President. He would obviously appeal, and try to post bail, but I don’t see the judge agreeing.

He might try to drag the entire case out, but I don’t see how he could drag it out for 7 months.

what happens if he is the Republican nominee when his conviction comes down? He campaigns from jail?

He doesn't get credit for obeying the most fundamental and simplest aspect of our democracy. In fact he could have made this pressure public news and expose these plans before hand.

Y’mean they might never heal. Like the John Birch/Goldwater Republicans of the 60s. We shall see if they’re still all in once the facts in the indictment are more widely known.
