Well, they were convicts sitting in jail cells or otherwise burdened by penalties imposed by the legal system. The pardon was needed to lift those burdens and exonerate them as martyrs in Trump's cause. Moreover, the pardons sent the important message that those who showed loyalty for Trump and sacrificed for him would be rewarded for their service. Those who did not would be punished. Like Michael Cohen was, for example. So that would strengthen Trump's hand with those who might violate laws on his behalf in the future. They can act with impunity.
I'm sure that you could have worked all this out for yourself, if you had given it some thought. Authoritarian rulers have used the legal system in this way in other countries. It just hasn't been commonplace in the US in the past. Trump has brought those tactics to America.
I see nothing nefarious. Look back at the thread about him pardoning his son--I was saying he should issue such pardons for those The Felon was going to try to persecute and that's exactly what he did.

But I will say, the best part of the Trump presidency so far is how he ended the Ukraine war in 24 hours just like he said he knew how to do.

The time to judge Trump v Biden will be in 4 years. Our economy now is relatively good, record Wall Street returns, relative peace. If trump policies lead to stag elation, lower 40-ks, and war: Biden will look much better.

Or possibly a lot sooner. But I think we can all look at Brandon today and agree we dodged a bullet because there is no way that man could have possibly served another term as president.
I don't think there is any way I could look at Brandon's presidency in a positive light. At best he was useless and at worst he has been a disaster.

I’m stunned you would say that!! Not. You are a partisan. I’m sure you would say the same thing about HRC, Obama, Newsom, and any other Democrat. I’m slightly left of center, and can see the pros/cons of any politician.

HRC and Newsom have never been president. HRC I don't have any strong opinion on. Obama? Meh, he was okay, no complaints.

George W Bush left the US with two occupations that were supposed to have ended years previously and the US economy was on the verge of collapse and required unprecedented Federal involvement to hold the economic tent up.
When I read the word "disaster" that is what I think of. Not 3% inflation.
In 2009, we were all wondering if we'd be working here tomorrow. In 2025, employment no where in doubt. In fact, can't hire enough people to do all the work.
