How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

In funny news, supreme commander of Wehrmacht ground forces general Drapatiy (Драпатый) resigned.
What is funny about that you ask?
It's his last name. which basically means retreat, or rather run away. This word is used in russian in humorous and diminishing way in military context. In general, a lot of ukrainian words are used in russian for comedic effect.

And sending tanks and soldiers across the border into a neighbouring country is the exact antithesis of a nation "defending itself".
Actually not. Not to mention that US does that all the time.
Actually, the last time the USA did that was over 20 years ago and it worked out about as well as Russia invading Ukraine is working out.

Three years into the USA invasion of Iraq, even hardcore US supporters were realizing what a disaster it was. Despite the ongoing reports from the semi-official news agency, Fox, about how well it was going and how soon we would win.

Don't worry, we are going to finish Ukraine just fine. We have no alternative. China has no alternative. In case of US all your military excursions are imperialism, plain and simple.

I didn't ask.

But what is absurd about it is that the last supreme commander of Wehrmacht ground forces was Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, who was executed in 1946, following his conviction at Nuremberg.

Actually by fucking definition.
Nope.

So what if they did? It's not a nation "defending itself" regardless of which nations do it.
So shut the fuck up.

Hey, that was not my idea to use german words to name ukrainian millitary units. They did it themselves.

It looks like forty Russian military aircraft were destroyed, one third of Russia's fleet. Ukraine used AI trained software so the drones could select their target without multiple drones hitting the same aircraft, also hitting the aircraft in critical spots, and being able to do so in any weather. Neat, huh?
Cool thing too is it looks like many of these aircraft are irreplaceable, made during the days of the Soviet Union and after the collapse of the empire, the remaining indigenous population did not possess the skills, I guess.

I hope there is political fallout to come and not just some ho-hum window chucking, something really entertaining.

What did Trump say about Ukraine "not having the cards"? Looks like they just played a good one.

Nope. Sending tanks and soldiers across a border into a neighboring country isn't "defending oneself". It's imperialism.

What do you mean that you have no alternative? If you want to stop fighting, you can return to Russia. Ukrainians live in Ukraine. They can't just move away. They are fighting to defend their homes. Your side is fighting to steal someone else's land. Do you understand the difference? What do you mean by China has no alternative? They have no alternative to help Russia. That's a bold statement considering that they could kick your ass if they wanted to. They are helping Russia now but may change their minds in the future.

Depends on circumstances. In our case it's self-defense and police action.

Alternative is allowing NATO scum to rule over Ukraine, with a perspective of another NATO invasion.
Ukrainians can live in Ukraine just fine, it's just they will be governed from Moscow.
And no, their opinion does not matter. They lost their right to self-govern when they allowed themselves to be used in the proxy war against Russia.

Yep, this is the difference between you and I: I think that Ukraine should be ruled by Ukrainians; you want them ruled by Putin.

I don't recall Japan/Germany being ruled by their people after WW2.
Some say they are still ruled by US.

Ukraine are not ruled by ukrainians now, It is ruled by US.

Thanks for the comedy lesson, Shecky.

Both countries are currently, and have for some time been, ruled by their people.
Some say they are not. And both countries are technically occupied by US millitary.
Biden blew up german gas pipeline and they said nothing. US ordered Japan to stop being better than US economically in the 90s and they obliged.

Your recall is batshit crazy counterfactual nonsense.
No, your shit is batshit crazy.

You're welcome. Ukrainian is funny language.

After all this time, Russia finally presented their "peace terms":

The big issue is that want Ukraine to disarm. No more defense and or intelligence help, troop reduction to 50,000 soldiers. This will allow Russia to easily conquer all of Ukraine once their army is reconstituted. Clearly Russia does not want peace. The west must dramatically increase sanctions on Russia. Any country that trades with Russia (India and China) should be tarriffed. We need to isolate Russia from the world.
