What the US funds is oftentimes things that have little if any kind of a profit horizon. Often it's just data collection made available to the world for other research. China and the US are at odds on a number of issues, and have yet to confirm plans for a leader-to-leader call the White House has said it expects will happen later this week.

“I like President XI of China, always have, and always will, but he is VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social at around 2:17 a.m. Washington time.

It is like Trump sucks at making deals, and he only scores when he has leverage and lawyers to fuck over the little guy. China isn't a little guy. The US only has so much leverage on China. The relationship is very co-dependent. And Trump shows he has no grasp on the fundamentals of trade between the two countries.

Trump also isn't trustworthy and keeps moving goalposts, and doesn't stick to agreements he signed off on. Which makes negotiations effectively impossible. To make matters worse, Trump wants a tete a tete with Xi, which Xi doesn't do. So we are stuck with Trump's stupid bluff.

IF you think that it's reasonable to treat people as a homogenous and unvarying bloc based solely on their nationality*.

--he's not allowing in people from countries with too high an overstay rate.

Better not to allow people in if they are likely to overstay based on an individual visa application, regardless of whether they are coming from Haiti or Canada.
