Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

The government taking ownership of a part of Intel might look like socialism, but as the motivation is strictly one of national security, in obtaining influence over strategic manufacturing essential to the military, it is not really "socialism" in an unqualified sense. Rather, we should see it as "national socialism".

Hey, that sounds familiar...
I’m sure that Trump does Nazi it that way.

If you have an extra minute to spare, watch this short exchange with Kamala Harris. Rather than gloating "I told you so" about her correct predictions, she tells us what she did NOT foresee: the utter CAPITULATION by the very people who should have been guardians of democracy.
The capitulation of the GOP? The neutered legislature? Is that who she means? Yeah. No. I seen that coming.

Industry, I was somewhat surprised by how they not only rolled over but lined up to roll over all so they could continue to exploit us for the commodity we are.
Now the Trump administration is going after the EU for implementing the Digital Services Act. Why? Because big tech pledged their loyalty. He will support them as long as they continue to do his bidding.

Thanks to the Trump tax cuts for the rich and the corporations they control, the federal debt is growing faster than dandelions in spring, a report Tuesday from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) warned.

That’s a complete reversal of what candidate Trump promised voters.

Trump ran for office denouncing the federal debt as dangerously high and asserting that he could pay it all off in eight years. Instead, his tax cuts, together with profligate military spending—far more than the Pentagon says it needs—are growing our government’s debt.

“If current laws generally remained unchanged, CBO projects, growing budget deficits would boost that debt sharply over the next 30 years,” the new report stated. “It would approach 100% of GDP by the end of the next decade and 152% by 2048. That amount would be the highest in the nation’s history by far.”

Assuming the individual cuts are extended for the full 10 years, the Trump tax cut law will add not $1.5 trillion or the revised estimate of $1.7 trillion to our national debt, but about $3 trillion. Add in increased military spending, and the additional debt will soar to nearly $4 trillion–a more than 25% increase from when Trump took office.

In Peter Griffin like style, Trump plays the "national security" card to stop construction of off-shore wind farm that was near completed.

article said:
Danish wind farm developer Orsted says the Revolution Wind project is about 80% complete, with 45 out of its 65 turbines already installed.
. . .
[Trimp's lackeys] did not specify what the national security concerns are.
It is like a cartoon with the Trump Admin, ...
Wind isn't a "scam", it is a viable source of electricity. It isn't the best direction to go to reduce energy related emissions, but it sure isn't a scam. A scam would be running a fake university and needing to give everyone that went there their money back.

I assume that "screw Denmark" was one of the farts that the Orange Psychopath found particularly fragrant.

While former enemies like Russia and North Korea are now great friends of the US, Denmark has shown its true colors and is enemy #1. Unconditional surrender -- in particular the cession of Greenland -- don't make US resort to nukes.

Trump "fires" Governor from Fed Board. Citing alleged false statement of using a home as a primary home on a loan application is the reason for this. This is simply an attempt to solidify partisan pro-Trump support on the Fed Board, which controls one of the most important things of the United States. Trump wants to play with it to drive the economy (and then inflation).

Kamala Harris has a tendency to see the best in people, and earnestly tries to understand the value and talents even of people she does not agree with. In more peaceful times, this would be a virtue. I admire Harris greatly, and wish I could support her as a politician.

Gasoline here has gone up to $3.50/gallon. It hasn't been that high in more than a year.

President Trump is not only working to stop a transition away from fossil fuels in the United States, he is pressuring other countries to relax their pledges to fight climate change and instead burn more oil, gas and coal.

...

During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said he was trying to educate other nations. “I’m trying to have people learn about wind real fast, and I think I’ve done a good job, but not good enough because some countries are still trying,” Mr. Trump said. He said countries were “destroying themselves” with wind energy and said, “I hope they get back to fossil fuels.”

Two weeks ago, the administration promised to punish countries — by applying tariffs, visa restrictions and port fees — that vote for a global agreement to slash greenhouse gas emissions from the shipping sector.

Wind, solar, flawed... as replacements for carbon based fuels. But Trump wants to galvanize the use of fossil fuels, including coal. Why?! He isn't selling nuclear, he is selling the first half of the 20th century.

It gets better.

Days later in Geneva, the Trump administration joined Saudi Arabia and other oil-producing countries to oppose limits on the production of petroleum-based plastics, which have exploded in use in recent years and are polluting waterways, harming wildlife and have even been detected in the human brain.
Petroleum based plastics don't breakdown. While plastics have clear advantages, they come at a notable cost as well.

It is like if it wasn't the way of the world in the early 20th Century, it is woke and must be suffocated. How long until the EPA no longer requires trying to keep sewage from dumping into rivers?

Expanding use of natural gas is a good idea, but bringing back coal is a bad idea. He is "selling nuclear", though:

New report lays out path to U.S. nuclear energy dominance

The new report “How America Can Achieve Nuclear Energy Dominance,” from the Working Group on U.S. Nuclear Energy Dominance, outlines a plan of action for the Trump administration that includes deploying new nuclear reactors, developing domestic supply chains, promoting nuclear exports, reforming regulations, and developing the workforce.

Working group chair Todd Abrajano said, “We welcome the Trump administration’s bold moves to kick-start the U.S. nuclear energy sector, but we recognize that President Trump’s executive orders alone can’t achieve our goals.”

When the king asks for a bribe you pay it.

Especially as paying it seems to be profitable for businesses.

Oh goody, a concept of an action plan.

:picardfacepalm: As the old saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step". At least there is some semblance of forward progress and acceptance of nuclear energy (finally!). It's because of "progressive" scaremongers (most notably, Jane Fonda) that we are so far behind on this issue. I like Jane Fonda as an actress, but as the saying goes, "She needs to stay in her lane".
