This story is being splashed on every major news site, right, left, and on every platform. People on the right screaming about political violence and such.

I don't recall this level of coverage when the Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives was murdered in her home alongside her husband.

And there is also a lot of glee about Charlie Kirk on places like Reddit.

Whether I agree with his opinions or not, I respect him for engaging in public debates, especially at our universities, because that’s something America has always needed, and it’s needed now more than ever.

If you say enough inflammatory shit, you really gotta protect yourself, whether you're Charlie, Nancy, Donny, Malcom, John or Bobby K - doesn't matter how true your stuff is or anything like that, just that it riles up the faithful and riles up the un-faithful even more. The tone sets things in motion that may be out of anyone's control because it sucks in the crazy right out of the atmosphere, and you can't predict crazy.

No use in speculating until there is a motive. The only thing we seem to know is the shooter knew how to shoot.

Other than the fact that Charlie Kirk is dead, we can be sure that nothing else we have heard at this point is correct.

If I were to engage in baseless speculation, I suspect the culprit is a Q-Anon loyalist who is upset that Kirk crawfished on the Epstein files.

While I don't think anyone deserves to be murdered, it's hard to have any sympathy for someone who is a far right religious fanatic and a big fan of the felon. I can feel sorry for his kids who are innocent and might grow up to be very different from their father.

Trump had him offed, and they're never going to find the shooter. It seems that Donny, in a typical braggadocious moment, had confided some things related to "the files" to poor Charlie. So he had to go. And it should keep Epstein off the air for a few days, will be blamed on Democrats and nobody will ever know the better.

This is my issue: you don't have to like someone's views to stand up for them when they're killed over those views. Charlie Kirk didn't lose his life because he personally brought violence to anyone; he was targeted for speaking. In any decent civic culture, there's a baseline respect owed to the messenger, the town crier who brings the message to the square, even when we hate the message. The shooter denied him that, and that should offend all of us when it happens to the least and the greatest of us, opposition to us or allies to us.
