So true. And who needs roads?
Oh my gods, he actually said it. Muh Roads.
So true. And who needs roads?
Am I the only one who thinks most Americans just want the shutdown to end and don't care for any super duper strategic 4d chess moves during the shutdown, because they're just living paycheck to paycheck? This goes for the democrats trying to keep the shutdown going too. I also don't think it's necessarily that good to have a shutdown while we have this fascism thing going on.

US Democrats are people who think Lucy won't yank the football this time.
That is a very accurate read of the common mood, though for the same reason, the public will discover far too late that a doubling of their medical insurance premiums will be onerous of to that cause of surviving from paycheck to paycheck. This isn't a simple black and white issue. The public bores quickly of complicated discussions, and that boredom can be stoked easily into anger, but not wanting to talk about a complex question does not shield you from the real impact of that question's resolution.Am I the only one who thinks most Americans just want the shutdown to end and don't care for any super duper strategic 4d chess moves during the shutdown, because they're just living paycheck to paycheck?
It takes two to tango. The idea that this whole thing is a Democratic project is nothing but Republican propoganda. The Republicans are the ones making a radical demand and refusing to cave, or even discuss the matter seriously, and they are pretty open about seeing this shutdown as a good thing that they wanted to happen, unlike Democrats, who generally see it as a disaster. This goes for the democrats trying to keep the shutdown going too. I also don't think it's necessarily that good to have a shutdown while we have this fascism thing going on.

Yes, though the matter is likely to reach a temporary resolution by the end of the week. Assuming they can get a quorum of their Reps and Senators back in time to vote on it, most of them haven't shown up for work in weeks. Useless louts. Is it still on?
My apologies, I misread your post.It takes two to tango. That's great because I specifically used the word "too" in there implying it wasn't just the democrats. When are people going to work on their reading comprehension?

(I took your "too" to mean "I think this thing about Americans, and also that Democrats should do this" rather than "Democrats as well as Republicans are in error")

Very explicitly. One of the driving forces behind this shutdown is a guy named Russell Vought, who was one of Project 2025's authors. And by the way, the government shutting down is effectively part of Project 2025.
Yup, I'm mainly confused about the strategy here. If we give in to allowing the government to be shutdown, I don't see that as any different than reinforcing Project 2025.Very explicitly. Last year, he outlined to the press exactly how the administration wanted to use any means that presented, to attack and traumatize federal employees unilaterally. Quoth he: "We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work. We want to put them in trauma."
