How should west respond to potential (likely) U.S. invasion of Venezuela?

The Venezuelan military is weak to say the least. The problem is the terrain. There's a lot of jungle and mountainous regions, which would make hiding out, ambushing, and then disappearing back into those places a serious problem for U.S. military personnel. The question is whether that type of resistance would materialize.

Venezuela has no nation backing it like North Vietnam did and the people do not like their dictator. OTOH, the same applied in Iraq. On the other-other hand, there aren't religious movements or a historical hatred of the U.S. to the degree that occurred in Iraq. But then there's the civilians who would be killed in the tens of thousands (if not more) which would inspire many citizens to give their lives to avenge their now dead loved ones.

Hmm. Things get complicated fast. Surely that's not a recipe for a years-long slog.
