Yet another war, this time with Iran

You are specifically aping Putin propaganda. Spread by neo-con youtubers.
My point is that you have taken onboard a very specific set of beliefs. Its a package.
I just wonder where you picked them up?
There's no way in hell you started parroting Putin propaganda by "thinking for yourself".
I never ever got my news from Youtube. This is my reading and not aping any Russian propaganda. I also never ever had any links to Russian propaganda. I filter news from Indian newspapers and television. Yeah, I have particular set of beliefs in religion or politics, if others differ, it does not matter to me. I have not yet started on religion on which I had thousands of post in the original IIDB or Secular Cafe, because now IIDB has turned to be very Trump specific (I have been a member since 2006). We hardly talk of anything else here. :D

Oh, I see. So it's the Indian newspapers and television that get their information from Russian propaganda.

Makes sense. The Western tabloids and cable channels do that too.
No national daily in India has Russian propaganda. They are as independent as myself. Furthermore, I said "I filter the news." I take the understanding of the news according to my view.
I do not read any tabloids. And as for the channels, I know which channel inclines towards what views.
On the whole, I am a Modi follower. Nationalist Right. :D
.

On computer, I use Google News. I am not far right, but some what. For rights are not strong atheists.

Bold: This seems backwards to me. I'd like to think objective news shapes my views. By filtering you seem to indicate you discard what does not fit with yours.

How would you find 'objective' without rejecting 'what is not ohjective'?
Constant filtering, something that always goes on in every one's mind.

Maybe it’s just a language difference issue but you may need to elaborate on the following phrase, which appears to be source of the confusion:

“I take the understanding of the news according to my view.”

Furthermore, I said "I filter the news." I take the understanding of the news according to my view.

I filter as I was taught: Who wrote it? Are they a subject matter expert well respected for other articles they've written. Is there some financial or political incentive behind what I've just read? Was funding necessary for a study and who funded it? I look for biases that might indicate I should limit my trust in what I've just read. But yes, sooner or later we all come to a decision of whether it is true or false or mostly so.
What I do not do is let community shape my opinion, be that community on line or at home. There have been occasions I have been silent when I should have spoken up and this is where I try and improve.
Is your opinion that of your community at home? Have you ever publicly spoken out in opposition, gone against the majority opinion in your community?

I'm sorry, but isn't all our opinions just stuff we've taken onboard on faith from our perceived communities?

What sets people apart is out awereness from where and what community the idea comes, imho.

Not even, so called unique thinkers, are unique. They're just slightly more clever than the rest of us, their unique ideas are exceedingly rare and get famous for them.

I think people who see themselves as objective and free thinkers are the most dangerous, because they're unaware why they think what they do.

It's incredible how Russia has been able to launch a vicious war while convincing a good portion of the world that they are the peace-loving victims of NATO aggression! Goebbels would be very proud.
You are from US. The rest of the world finds it incredible as to how nakedly US has usurped oil rights of Venezuela and Iran while the rest of us suffer its consequences. India too has increased the petrol and diesel prices though marginally, something like 5%. What other calamity will Trump will bring to us in the rest of three years?
I’m not a trumpster. I’m against imperialism.

“I take the understanding of the news according to my view.”
Nice point. I have seen the world of 83 years and formed my views. If a view goes against that, I think of the reasons which may have produced that view.
In politics and religion, what people say has to be analyzed thoroughly.

Is your opinion that of your community at home? Have you ever publicly spoken out in opposition, gone against the majority opinion in your community?
I do not mince my words at home or in the society, when a debate is on. Otherwise, I am OK with whatever others believe as befits an elder.
I do not think there is even one Hindu who would agree with my views. Orthodox Hindu, atheist, completely follows the latest in science.
But what of that?

I certainly am not clever. I was not very successful in my job or with my money. But I survived and raised a family.
I am not famous though I helped many students for going to study in US. Some of them may now be professors and engineers in US.
(I served for 15 years in the Student Advising section of the Fulbright Foundation in India)
I have not harmed anyone, except one person. I deeply regret the mistake I made.

Trump(Elmer Fudd) versus Iran(Bugs Bunny)....

Trump - Be very very quiet, I am hunting Iran. I'm going to get that that cwazy Iran if its the wa-a-a-st thing I do.

Bold - Goodness no! Mine is as I described. The method I use to discern truth from fiction came from school text books on critical thinking.

I am neither clever nor original but I do strive to be objective.
