Yet another war, this time with Iran

Furthermore, I said "I filter the news." I take the understanding of the news according to my view.

Bold: This seems backwards to me. I'd like to think objective news shapes my views. By filtering you seem to indicate you discard what does not fit with yours.
How would you find 'objective' without rejecting 'what is not ohjective'?
Constant filtering, something that always goes on in every one's mind.
I filter as I was taught: Who wrote it? Are they a subject matter expert well respected for other articles they've written. Is there some financial or political incentive behind what I've just read? Was funding necessary for a study and who funded it? I look for biases that might indicate I should limit my trust in what I've just read. But yes, sooner or later we all come to a decision of whether it is true or false or mostly so.
What I do not do is let community shape my opinion, be that community on line or at home. There have been occasions I have been silent when I should have spoken up and this is where I try and improve.
Is your opinion that of your community at home? Have you ever publicly spoken out in opposition, gone against the majority opinion in your community?

I'm sorry, but isn't all our opinions just stuff we've taken onboard on faith from our perceived communities?

What sets people apart is out awereness from where and what community the idea comes, imho.

Not even, so called unique thinkers, are unique. They're just slightly more clever than the rest of us, their unique ideas are exceedingly rare and get famous for them.

I think people who see themselves as objective and free thinkers are the most dangerous, because they're unaware why they think what they do.
It is not opinion. For many decades Israel has been pushing Palestinians off their land for Jewish statements. Slow motion ethnic cleansing.

Netanyahu a Zionist said it on camera. Jews have a god given right to the land that was Israel 2000 years ago and can do what they will with it.

Unaware why they think like they do?

As In have said to you before, educate yourself on history that led to where we are today. Start in the 19th caentu8ry. Work your way through the British Mandate. Jews used terrorist tactics. Bombings.

Israel participation in the European - Egyptian war.

I do not buy the Israel as Jewish victims facade. Netanyahu is an expert propagandist.

There are reasons for the antagonism against Israel.

I’m not a trumpster. I’m against imperialism.
I understand that and share your views. What bug got hold of him in his second presidency!

Yea, Trump is the biggest con artist that we've ever had. He has always been a free spending, anti trade, pro-hyper growth, imperialist. And yet he ran as an anti-neocon-balance the budget-inflation buster! He conned MAGA into voting for him. And we're paying the price now.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting "I surrender, I surrender" while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary "Documents of Surrender," and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn't even close. The Dumacrats and Media have totally lost their way. They have gone absolutely CRAZY!!! President DJT

As I went on, it started seeming more and more like a joke. But it wasn't. This is the President of the United States, whining like a little toddler.

Trump: If Iran had surrendered, the med...
Press: So Iran hasn't surrendered and your claims of victory are premature?
Trump: You are such a vile press.

It is pretty obvious to all that Trump cannot conduct further strikes on Iran. The risk is too great to oil prices and a potential market collapse at home. Yet at the same time, he cannot let the situation drag on indefinitely. The straits are still closed. Oil prices have edged back up, almost to the highs set just a few weeks ago. At the pump, gas prices have surpassed 4.50/gallon average across all states, and with almost no one offering less than $4/gallon. Trump Taco’d the other day, extending his deadline but without any rationale or concessions from Iran – just saying that he was extending the deadline he set. The Iranian sets of demands are patently absurd, but Trump can’t get them to negotiate. They’re basically playing him for a fool, which he undeniably is. They’re almost begging him to strike them again. They’re probably rebuilding their supplies of drones up, and planning serious attacks against shipping in the Gulf and other surrounding environs.

I wonder if it is only a matter of time before they hit and seriously damage a U.S. warship with significant casualties.

Of course he can, and he should. The pain of increased oil prices will be temporary, but failing in Iran now due to Trump chickening out will only lead to more emboldened theocratic regime.

And what would he accomplish with more strikes that he didn’t accomplish in the first set? War crimes perhaps?

Israel bombarded Gaza for over a year with bombs and targeted attacks and Hamas is still around.
Russia has been bombing Ukraine for four years and Ukraine is still not Russia as of yet and Russia has troops in Ukraine.

You think a few more bombs will do fuck all in Iran?! To overthrow the theocracy, you need two million or so troops in Iran and an uncomfortable number of body bags and Trump / Hegseth autopen signed 'sorry you loved one died' letters.

As far as "pain" from oil prices... we are heading towards a fuel shortage. You shat your pants over 'Biden spending' causing modest inflation? Can't wait till you see your reaction to stagflation.

There is again a suspension of the final and complete attack on Iran. How many times will Trump do it? Why does not he accept that the war is over and that he has not been able to cower-down the Iranians?

One of his defining characteristics is his pathological inability to admit mistake or failure.

He won’t even admit when he fumbles a word in a speech, he will act like he meant to say the wrong word and try to work it into what he was trying to say, instead of a simple correction or “excuse me”.

And you expect him to accept he lost a war he started??

Further strikes might damage Iran militarily and economically, but history suggests they are unlikely by themselves to fundamentally change Iran’s government, ideology, or long-term strategic influence over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has only two options at this point if continuing on with force, boots on the ground, or pull out his sharpie and switch Iran with Brazil.

You are asking why President Trump doesn't do something rational. Seeing that Trump isn't rational or professional competent (or mentally competent?), that seems like the wrong type of thing to ask about.

I’m sure our farmers aren’t buying that. Then again, they can’t really afford to buy much of anything right now.
