Nothing but Republican talking points. It's like Stephen Miller with a hoodie.

Could you elucidate on some of those talking points?

Could you elucidate on some of those talking points?
"Some of the Democrats running today are anti western civilization, anti capitalist and anti the American way of life. They're all socialists, of course. And then there's communists and Marxists and they're proud of this."

Much more in the short vid.

Probably was getting a lot of threats from MAGA extremists so he folded.

Wow. Just... Wow. Seriously?

I would change some aspects of the American way of life.

That doesn't exactly make me anti-capitalist, it just makes me only reasonably capitalistic.

It doesn't make me anti-the-american-way-of-life, it just makes me only attached to the reasonable part of it.

I think any devotion to such things greater than that is unreasonable. In fact, it is tautologically true.

I seek to not be "unreasonable", except exactly when reason dictates that I am right.

"WTF Happened To John Fetterman?"

My first guess is nothing. Once he got in, he could take the mask off.

John Ferterman shows the shortcomings of the whole Vote Blue No matter who thing.

Also wasn’t he recovering from a stroke or something?

Obviously the Dems did not do a sufficiently good job vetting Fetterman. but PA was never going to go for someone a mm left of center. That Fetterman is not the centrist people thought is unfortunate. Lesson learned. Hopefully he will be primaried and get his hat handed to him.

This is a little more extreme than not quite centrist. This is full on Stephen Miller crazy hateful.

The other alternative is he's been misled by the idea that the left needs to cater to hateful bigots so this is the result.

Oh, yeah. No disagreement there.

The point I was trying to make was the less than stellar vetting of candidate Fetterman Abd the hand waving when he had a stroke during his campaign that this would not affect his ability to serve.

Strokes can and do sometimes have significant affects on a patient, apart from risks of physical or intellectual impairment t —which may be slight or profound. Depression is a major known side effect. I’m not trying to diagnose Fetterman but I am saying that depression Abd personality changes are not uncommon. I didn’t know much about Fetterman when he won his Senate race, about who he was or what he believed prior to his win.

Whether this is just a mask coming off or is a change that cam and dues happen once people are in office and dealing with the demands and the different perspective one has in a seat of power —or whether he willfully misled the party and voters or whether the stroke changed him fundamentally, I don’t know.

But I don’t think he was as carefully vetted as he should have been . I’m not sure if the party had a lot of choices but to support him after his stroke.

I can attest the first three minutes was the expected Fox News sputum and nothing else. And a practiced Fetterman hit all the triggers for their typical viewer.

I thought "the American way of life" was ever changing. For Fox News it seems to be a rigid bit of propaganda set to loop since the 1930s: rugged individualism, capitalism, consumerism, blah, blah, blah.

Yes and no. PA has been a purple state for a while, but we got used to it being blue over the last 10 or 15 years. Trump and MAGA brought out voters in the Alabama portion of Pennsylvania and was convincing enough for suburban voters to swap over to. Fetterman provided an antidote to the Trump attitude by using it himself.

There are points about how the Democrats have this or that for issues, the typical political stuff. But the Trump Admin is arresting people at the Reflection Pool. ICE murdered two protesters and attempted to vilify the victims to justify it as self defense. The criticism of the Democrat Party seems a tad bit tone deaf when the Trump Admin is seizing ballots and announcing interference in the USPS by not delivering ballots.

I get Fetterman is representing a Purple state. But he and the Democrats are not doing that great of a job simplifying what the Trump Admin is doing nor messaging it to the people.

You do not have to convince me of the evils of this administration. Or of the absolute value and necessity of voting blue no matter who.

This Vote Blue No Matter Who is something the Dems have stressed and I absolutely do that. But if you, as a party, put that out then you as a party have an absolute duty to thoroughly vet candidates.

I definitely understand that some voters will naturally lean to someone who seems like an outsider, not part of the system, etc. Yeah, Fetterman certain was seen as a fresh face, not a party hack. There is value in that for the party and to voters.

But the Dems do not have full reign to be as sloppy or wrong as they like right up until they approach Trump/MAGA level of evil. They need to be the party of ethics, etc. BTW, this is exactly why the Trump administration is heaping as many allegations of fraud, corruption as possible on Minnesota Democrats. Outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the state is almost entirely rural and much more conservative.

Fetterman needs to be primaried if he runs again.

That only works if you offer and accept true primary challenges, and at a national level, the Dems are particularly allergic to serious primary challenges, especially from more progressive factions.

"California Democrats" are fucking allergic to primaries.

Hence, there is a disconnect between what people want and what "the party" wants.

And to your second point about messaging... Democrats don't control any media respurces, especially not the progressives, who we need out there voting so as to actually win, and the ones that Dems do control(ed) push(ed) against such primary challenges.

How do you expect that messaging to happen when the most vigorous rhetoric you see on the media seems to be a tepid "Trump broke the law again! OOPS!"?!?

I mean, we have attack articles against Dems over how someone eats their fucking rice FFS, and Dems aren't even supporting the guy because he cares about people too much and primaried someone...

We could think of the quote commonly attributed to Keynes
"When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"
What facts are these? So if say in WWII Great Britain and its allies opposed Nazi Germany because it was doing invasions. However if Germany paused its invasions, and instead concentrated on exterminating Jews, then the facts have changed, so naturally UK and its allies should no longer oppose Nazi Germany?!
You don't simply automatically change your mind to an opposed position because some facts have changed. You have to consider the nature of the facts, and if they merit any change in one's position. Indeed, a fact change may cause a reinforcement of your existing position, especially if the facts simply provide additional details about a situation. For instance, if you know an individual who is racist, and you oppose them because of this, but it is then revealed most of the people of the town they live in are racist, one doesn't then go, "I'll change my mind and be racist too".

And it seems Fetterman keeps leaning more to the left as the Democrats complain about trite stuff like an aimless military effort in the Middle East, tearing down the Kennedy Center, and potential stagflation developing. Fetterman is falling for the "Trump is a victim" narrative here. I'm uncertain why.
