To add the above, even though I know this is one of my many character flaws, I hope McConnell suffers.
Tough crowd.
I do wonder, though, how many here are against the death penalty for the worst-of-the-worst-of-society because it's "inhumane and barbaric".
Yes, it's a tough crowd because many of us do not even recognize Mitch McConnell as a person, or as having ever been one.
The requirement for Mitch McConnell to become a person, to me, would be his recognition and adoption of the inversely worded golden rule.
To get him to understand that, he would have to suffer greatly.
This is not to say "he should have to", but if he had a functional brain, there's no way to get to the result without the consequence of suffering or manually re-arranging his neurons one by one (which he would probably also "suffer" from).
There's just no other way to modify behavior, and even getting him to the first step on that path would be a journey.
It would be a hellish slog for him to examine the nature of his failures and then to poke or prod or occasionally reward him until his core thought processes start feeling the change.
When something is so corruptly not-a-pperson, oftentimes it's easier to let that thing die and start all over with gestating a baby and spending 2 decades of such work on that instead of the evil asshole.
Sadly, though, his brain is likely liquefying as we speak, after his neurons being deprived of oxygen so long.
I do not think it is worth our time to manually rebuild Mitch McConnell's brain painlessly neuron by neuron in a way that implies a lack of immediate suffering. It is much easier to produce the sort of person he should be, were his brain intact, through a long road of suffering and occasionally also praise.
As this is Mitch McConnell's journey into the darkness, I wish him all the suffering he would need to die as a person rather than one of the more despicable monsters to ever bother us with his existence.
