How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

You do realise you're sounding exactly like the people who thought the moon landings were fake, or that 9/11 was an inside job, right? You can't even explain how you came to your conclusion. So why don't you believe in unicorns then?
Because CIA has done it many times in different countries. It is the normal political practice. Indian or US politics too is not free of such interference.
There is no evidence for God, soul or unicorns except in paintings.

So? What right do they have to have any say in the matter at all?
It is not a matter of right, it is real-politic. That is why countries including USA and India do not give Taiwan an independent country status, not even Trump.
Realpolitik (/reɪˈɑːlpɒlɪˌtiːk/ ray-AHL-po-lih-teek German: [ʁeˈaːlpoliˌtiːk] ⓘ) is the approach of conducting diplomatic or political policies based primarily on considerations of given circumstances and factors, rather than strictly following ideological, moral, or ethical premises.[1][2] In this respect, it shares aspects of its philosophical approach with those of realism and pragmatism.[3][4]

While generally used as a positive or neutral term, Realpolitik has been used pejoratively to imply policies that are perceived as being coercive, amoral, or Machiavellian.[5]
That second paragraph is describing you and Putin to a T.

Speaking of terrorists. Ukraine's "Defense" minister who was credited with the latest highly successful drone campaign against Russia was ...... fired.
Do you know why?
If Putin had not invaded Ukraine there would have never been drone attacks on Russia...

Russia is having a hard time with Ukraine and its drones attacking ships and infrastructure causing fuel shoetrees in Russia.

Imagine what it would be like if Russia went to war with NATO and all its resources. The entire combed NATO air forces.

Putin made a catastrophic blunder.

Today Trump made a great blinder and is stuck with it with no off rtamp. Both Putin and Trump cant win and can't give up.

It's been my experience on the internet that people who use the phrase realpolitik the most are teenage edgelords who just bought a Fisher Price "My First Political Opinion" playkit.

We have our American myths and propaganda like 'truth, justice. and the American way'. All of it partly true.

But our foreign policy has always been realpolitik.

The Arab oil states are the antithesis of western liberal democracy, but we support them to keep oil flowing. We sell arms to them.

In the Cod War we spurted dictators who were anticommunist.

A thread for morality on on philosophy forum.

Is it better to be practical and pragmatic and do some good, or be rigidly ideological and fail.

I have always had a problem with myth of the US being the shining light on the hill given the history of our foreign policies since 1898.
As Smedley Buttler said, "War is a racket".

It all depends on how you look at it. For a very long time the USA was looked at as a model.

When George Washington left orifice and peacefully returned to private life he set the stage for peaceful transfer of powerthrough a democratic process. Revolutionary in the day. Not seriously challenged until our crackpot president Trump.

Look and the word today, peaceful transfer of power is not a universal norm.

To a large degree people at the bottom have the chance to get an seduction and move up. I grew up single parent in pubic housing and ended up as an engineer.

What I always say to America bashers is look at both the plosives and the negatives.

Look at it in the context of history where we are and where we were at the founding.

You can not apply a narrow arbitrary moral standard. IMO.

After he had been in office while Obama said in the ed it was about moving the needle forward. A pragmatic view.

By whom? Its citizens may not be entirely unbiased on this question.

After having fought a war to overthrow the government he disliked.
Revolutionary in the day.
Indeed he was.

Not seriously challenged again until...
Look and the word today, peaceful transfer of power is not a universal norm.
And wasn't when the USA was founded. Or at any time since.

Aupmanyav indicates a supposed descent from a Kamboja sage, Upamanyu, mentioned in Bhagawat Purana, because that is my 'Gotra' (Paternal lineage).
A verse in RigVeda is ascribed to Upamanyu (in praise of Soma. He was a minor Vedic poet). The first Aupamanyava on record is a pre-7th Century BCE Sanskrit grammarian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aupamanyava

I am a strong atheist and a orthodox Hindu following the non-dual philosophy (Advaita). For me Gods/Goddesses, soul, unicorns are people's imagination.

That does not eliminate 'realpolitik' in modern life, we use it in many situations.
Just today, Trump complained about Chinese interference in US politics.

"In a July 17, 2026 primetime address, President Donald Trump* alleged that China had obtained 220 million U.S. voter files and claimed this was the "largest compromise of election data in history," though U.S. intelligence agencies have previously stated China did not interfere in the 2020 election."
DW, Axios. (DuckAssist)

* Interesting. Trump is mentioned as the Former President. Is he no more the US President? Someone flipped seriously there.

Meanwhile International Olympic Committee reinstated Russia, EU nazis wrote a letter threatening to cut funding. OIC told EU to to fuck off. Would mot it be funny if EU got kicked out of Olympics.

These types of things happen in democracies. If he were Russian, he would have been thrown out a window! There's no doubt that Fedorov's new age advancement of new drone and new military technologies have created great successes against Russia over the last few months. But I hear that this clashed with the established military generals that have been doing the ground fighting. There is no doubt that this is a risky move by President Z as Fedorov is very popular. And he's a clearly a winner. Ukraine needs winners if they are to defend itself from the invaders. We'll see how it works out.
