The Mamdani Experiment In Socialism

Also having a weekend, which socialists fought for. I guess having a weekend is socialism.
Socialists were not teh only ones who fought for the weekend. Though happy to claim all the credit it seems.
Do you have a link that shows the weekend is solely due to the efforts of socialists? I ask, because no one claims it here.
In post 93 which is embedded above, Genesis it seems he was implying that socialists gave us the weekend off.

Who else?
Churches and other benevolent organisations were heavily involved in pushing for the week end off.
In Victoria, Australia the eight hour day 1st wins were in influenced by members of the Chartists, church based group from the UK.
This article notes that Sunday was a day of rest for centuries (1/2 weekend). The churches had the model of the sabbath from the Torah.

When these movements originated there were not 'socialists' in the modern day sense around.

How do you make poor urban areas less poor and less dilapidated and lacking in access to corporate capital for improvements due to corporate neglect well over half a century?
Decentralize.

Incentivize corporations to move further out from the city center, invest in suburbs and smaller-scale urban areas with shorter less dense apartments. Plan for service access, including groceries, as you go.

But that's a whole lot of work, and it's not a quick fix. It would require government partnership with the private sector on something that spans a decade or so.

The US has really only successfully pulled that off with weapons tech.

Here it was started mostly by demands of labor unions, which many feel are socialists.

My grandfather participated in the Great Sit Down Strike of 1930.
