Because you are minimising violence against gays. Those gays also belong to an ethnic minority, so are doubly minorities.

Phrasing it as "pitting minorities against eachother", in this context is a despicable thing to say. As if gays have a history of systematic terror against family members who don't submit to their will.

I'm not talking about something hypothetical. This is an ongoing and actual problem in Sweden. Its a problen in all countries in Europe with large Muslim minorities

And then, too, anyone who starts a thread entitled “how gays sound like” has serious stereotyping and bigotry issues.
 
But then, too, it is amusing how he so often puts alleged personal stuff into his threads, like having a lesbian girlfriend, meeting the Saudis, doing some giant art project with all sorts of different people including Israelis and Palestinians who got along just hunky-dory, no doubt under his wise tutelage. :rolleyes: Yuck.

I have long thought Islam is fundamentally incompatible with western liberal democracy. Some Muslim immigrants adapt to western democracy, but it is fundamentally in conflict. Separation of church and state.

During the FIFA Word Cup here Muslim counties asked our govern mt to prevent pro gay demonstrations at venues.

The main problem in Sweden has been the racism of the liberals. They think they're not racist. But they are. Non ethnic Swedes are tokenised and not listened to. That has led to a situation where Islamists have managed to penetrate most major parties. Have given refuge to Islamists chased out of the Middle-East. So now the Muslim brotherhoods headquarters is in Sweden. The Islamist politicians haven't hid their Islamism. The liberal ethnic Swedes just haven't confronted them, for complex reasons that I don't really understand. I think it's a bizarre behaviour. The super liberal Green Party had so many Islamists in high positions, when it was revealed in the press, the party just collapsed. It came as a huge shock to the ethnic Swedes in the party. They just hadn't seen it coming.

And then you have the racists... Because they're racist the liberals have refused to listen to them. But when it comes to their calls about the dangers of allowing Islamists to settle in Sweden, they were right. Anyway... past tense. The last couple of years things have shifted dramatically. In the upcoming election The Sweden Democrats, who are racists, might become Sweden's biggest political party.

This is the political reality in Sweden. The Danes, Norwegians and Finns were smarter than Swedes and stopped Muslim immigration earlier. They don't have anywhere near the same problems. They still do. But way less.

Well... the story is obviously complicated. But I think the consensus among modern historians is that the biggest driver behind the industrial revolution was a product of the English Civil war. And Cromwell. As well as the Dutch Republic. These two are arguably the same movement.

As I understand it, the biggest key to the industrialisation was two systems where, for various reasons, the king and the nobles were rule-bound and couldn't just take stuff from commoners. And had empowered parliaments who controlled the army and as such could stop the nobles.

Since the middle-class were, by tradition, frugal. They now dared invest money into joint ventures, could count on keeping the dividents, and didn't blow all the winnings on ostentatious palaces and pointless luxuries. Once that culture got started it fed itself. Innovation exploded. The crown made tonnes of money from all the taxes generated and started winning wars and building empires. At that point it was unstoppable.

Why some Christians argue that Christianity is the key, or more precisely, protestantism, is that the English Roundheads and Dutch Republicans were super super Christian, and used the Bible as a cohesive force and used the Bible as the rule system to keep the nobles in check.

Those who think other factors were more important have to explain why it didn't happen elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure the debate will never be fully settled.

Yet, industrialisation didn't happen there. They had all the factors. It still didn't happen. Jarred Diamond in Guns, Germs and Steel claims that the reason is that their coal is too far from the coast. But that's since been refuted. Switzerland had one of the earliest booming industrial economies (also early protestant) and that was based purely on water power. China had water power. So that's not it.

It's another reason industrialisation didn't happen in China

Sure. But the Incas has bronze age technology and the Aztecs stone age technology. No where near an industrial revolution.

In 2015 Sweden got 300 000 refugees from Afghanistan and Syria. In 2016 1 out of every 3 murder victims in Sweden was an honour killing. This is not a limited problem. Bringing attention to it is not racism or Islamophobia. It's a very real problem in Sweden now. Honour killings disproportionately targets gays.

I'd argue it's racist not to acknowledge and act on this, because the victims of these honour killings are ethnic minorities from Muslim majority countries. I'd argue it's also homophobic, because the victims are disproportionately gay. It's also about domestic abuse. Arguably, the worst kind of abuse. I find it objectionable when people downplay domestic abuse.

And you, what, "regard" them? And your proposed solution to their problems is to bar them from entering your country? How is that supposed to help them in any way? Fuck your faux-moralistic takes. I care deeply about other people, and I think it's wrong to cynically use them as props to fuel a twisted political agenda as you do.

To be fair, I think it’s a facade.
This is a guy who characterizes his own sex life to a forum full of people who could not care less. Z’s “agenda” is custom fabricated for what he think is his audience.
