2026 Mid-Term Elections

At this point, I need to drag my mother to the County Voting place for early voting. I can't trust whether a mail-in ballot will arrive. This is grossly unconstitutional, both in separation of powers, between fed and states, unequal protection as it varies by state and maybe by which party's primary you vote in. States that do mostly mail-in voting are fucked. This is just so wrong, it is insane that SCOTUS played the "our hands our tied" card.

Except a Federal Judge just issued another stay order that means SCOTUS's procedural problem.

James Talarico nails it.
0:53–> The only minority destroying America is the billionaires. [cheering]
Trans people are 1% of the population.
Muslims are 1% of the population.
Undocumented people are 1% of the population.
We are focused on the wrong 1 percent! [cheering]
Trans people aren't taking away our healthcare.
Muslims aren't defunding our schools.
Immigrants aren't cutting taxes for themselves and their rich friends.
It's the billionaires and their puppet politicians.
The culture wars are a smoke screen.
So many of the divisions in this state and in this country are manufactured by billionaires who want us fighting each other instead of fighting them.
They want us, they want us looking left and right at our neighbors instead of looking up at them.
The biggest divide in our politics is not left versus right.
It's top versus bottom.

The barriers being put in the way to vote will increase the 'did-not-vote' segment. It is already far too high. The lazy ones will feel vindicated and those who wish to vote but age, infirmity make it more difficult than previously will reluctantly not do so.
So stupid.

Nope, that's exactly the point. Every time voter turnout is more than 50% Republicans get trounced.

Trump says he will report NBC host to FCC for ‘rebuke or punishment’. The president’s latest in a string of threats against broadcasters followed a comment by Kristen Welker about “some mixed results” from his midterm endorsements.

President Donald Trump, angered by a comment that NBC anchor Kristen Welker made about his endorsements in the midterm elections, said Sunday he would report her to the Federal Communications Commission for a “rebuke or punishment” in his latest call for the agency to take action against broadcasters.

Welker, ahead of the airing of her show “Meet the Press,” told NBC D.C. affiliate WRC-TV that Trump is “going to loom large” over the November midterm elections. She noted that he endorsed several candidates in the primaries and said he had “some mixed results.”

Trump took issue with Welker’s characterization, insisting in a Truth Social post that his record of endorsements is, “without question, the strongest Endorsement in the History of Politics.”

“Because of this purposeful inaccuracy, she will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, saying he hoped its chairman, Brendan Carr, “will take this Threat to our Country very seriously.” In a later post, Trump also complained about polls used by media organizations, without giving details, saying, “FCC TO THE RESCUE!”
Wutta pussy.

When conservatives realize they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will abandon democracy.

They will still have 200 sites to vote at. They are closing over 90 locations. That is 1/3 of the locations. Are they suggesting one-third of the locations had no one showing up? Then the GOP will complain about polls staying open later.

Summit County, Ohio has 371 Precincts. Population <<< 2 million.

Not stupid. It is to purposefully impact the voter turnout. They are trying to fix the election by reducing voters that would vote Democrat. However, it is unclear which party is impacted the most by such a policy, if either of them.

Simply stirring the pot vigorously enough to cause spillage, is enough to sow the doubt required for people to accept the planned “remedy” (refusing to accept electoral results) and carry on with Cheato as the undisputed dictator.
NOT ROCKET SURGERY.

The majority of the poll locations they are closing are on college campuses. Pretty clear who they don't want voting.

The Missouri Supreme Court just ridiculously ruled in favor of changing the maps back to what they were a long time ago. It’s called, Ancient History! The problem is, according to Legal Scholars, that not only was the ruling horrible, ridiculous, and unConstitutional, but there won’t be enough time to change the map back with the Election coming up in a very short period of time. The Election Process, as usual, is being disturbed in America! Missouri must be able to use the map that was in effect just a couple of months ago, in the Primary. This is a Dark Day for “Justice” in Missouri! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

It almost impresses me with how bloody random Trump and the Trump Admin can be. Other than the 'not going to follow through on a promise', it is usually impossible to tell what is going to come out of this Admin next.

Nice! It'd be better if each state Supreme Court would find as such. They haven't. But it would have been nice.

Actually in reading the NY Times article, this is complicated! The primaries have already occurred. The GOP Is Missouri attempted to force their maps by rejecting the Referendum vote within the last hour possible. The paperwork for it was filed 12/9/25 and rejected 8/7/26 (1 hour before the legislated deadline). The Missouri Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the map is invalid, the mid-term must be via the existing maps, and the referendum must be on the ballot.

SCOTUS typically stays out of it with state elections, but this one is quite bad. Granted, all the more reason to stay out of it, unless they want to suggest voting isn't a right anymore. Resolution of this is almost impossible, other than somehow they hold primaries in November and General elections in December, if that is even legal. The GOP has really stepped in it this time, but they are trying to seize control of our nation's government, so this might be a benefit rather than a cost.

This might be one of the most contested state elections since Kentucky in 1900.
