Your Silence is Deafening

I would argue that being the victim of rape or sexual assault is a far greater burden than being accused of it. But being accused is no picnic.
No one will leave these events unscarred. Not being believed or being falsely accused are terrible burdens to bear, especially if alone.
But I can't help thinking that drinking less and not taking drugs would really reduce significantly the number of these events.
And keeping our pants on a lot more.
What should the university do? What is the university obligated to do?
The uni needs, is obligated, to have an environment of safety for all and yet we tend to create environments of non-safety for too many people. It will only work if all people are willing for it to occur.

Sure, limiting consumption of intoxicating substances is the best way to reduce risk but one can be sober and in one’s own dorm room studying for a Chemistry test and not be completely safe. Or in an elevator or walking down a hall….

Yes, universities must do a much better job of ensuring a safe environment.

My first year RA did an excellent job of warning us to stay away from frats and frat parties, etc. unfortunately I don’t think anybody ever talks to the guys about consent, respect, etc. Certainly not the guys in my dorm.

That appears to be a gaping hole.

Some potentially more literal than others.

How is this even a question? There is no doubt what happened and who was there. This is a rare case of more certainty than average with these types of cases.

It is possible had the men been more sober, they wouldn't have done what they did.

Why? When this stuff happens, people say maybe if the woman didn't get intoxicated...

No, I want you to come up with a better law than NY already has. And you can not do it.
What new laws? All I'm asking for the enforcement of the law as it stands. It is not, in fact, legal to commit rape.
Typical RVonse. Too much of a puss so just ctrl-c and then ctrl-v. What a lazy piece of shit. I mean some people might think of him as.

Come on. He posted a link, could have told you to "google it". No, he didn't cite text, but he isn't misstating what the CNN piece says. Everything revolves around "consent". And NY Law and it's take on consensual intake of drugs makes the consent thing much harder to prove in court. That shouldn't be the end of the legal investigation, but it hangs high over the investigation. They need to demonstrate that she was then given more drugs unwillingly or with the intent to drug her up.

But you know what RVonse could have done? Quoted part of the article whilst posting the link. You know, LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. I get where you're coming from, but some people need instructions written in crayon.

I guess some people love a maga bubble. MAGA - Make America Go Away.
