Gaza isn't occupied in the same sense that a prison isn't occupied. The idea is to keep the inmates contained and control their resources, not to join them in there.

Who said anything about Gaza. The settlers aren't that dumb. Parts of Gaza used to be colonised. Israel moved out of Gaza (and the Sinai Peninsular) under a peace agreement with Egypt in 1979. Israel continues to build settlements in the West Bank. The Court of International Justice stated these are illegal (2004). Many Israelis believe these are illegal. Unfortunately the Settlers believe God to be an estate agent who gave them the land. Gaza is heavily blockaded instead. Israel blew its chance of peace by continuing its colonial policies to appease the extremists who hold the sway of power in its coalition governments. Such extremists played into the hands of Islamic extremists.
Think Gaza in the same way the Romans thought of Scotland. It was too troublesome to occupy so they built a wall around it.

This is a court ruling that didn't even look at the situation in Gaza.

This was the ruling against Israeli settlements. As I mentioned the Israelis pulled out its settlements from Gaza in 1979 so this would not be featured.

It is a distinction without a difference. It like the difference between whether there are guys permanently in your house threatening you with guns versus "merely" surrounding your house threatening you with guns, controlling every movement and kicking in the door and shooting people whenever it wants.

Israel has repeatedly launched massive military attacks of the people in Gaza.
Constantly sending in the military and killing people is no different from having the military in place.
So? The key point is that you can't have an occupation without boots on the ground. No boots, no occupation.

What is the point of this semantic game? Sure, its not an occupation and more of a concentration camp. Does that make it somehow less bad?

You're wrong. God told them it's okay. Anyway see my post above.
However if there was peace in the area, the Israelis would be an asset to the region for engineering, IT and a whole host of other things. In fact the cost of purchasing property would have been cheaper than going to war over it.
A lot of people on here keep referring to Gaza as occupied. I was proving they are wrong.

Hamas repeatedly has boots on the ground in Israel. Does that mean Hamas is occupying Israel also? And IDF is a resistance movement against said occupation?
Words have meanings. Twisting them to mean whatever supports your political opinion doesn't change what's actually happening.

Hamas is disputing land which the settlers are taking in the West Bank. Hamas is not taking Israeli land. So there is a difference. Hamas is not able to efficiently control the very militant groups who every so often fire rockets. As I understand it is in some kind of negotiations with Israel to extend the current truce, and Egypt will allow Palestinians to enter Egypt for 3 days from Gaza.

The actions of Hamas are reactions to decades of Israeli oppression and theft.
This doesn't mean that all actions of Hamas are justified only that they are the natural reaction to oppression.
You oppress long enough and something like Hamas is likely to arise.
