The Food Nazi Says NO SHRIMP FOR YOU: How One State Plans to Feed the Poor.

Of course you do. Just like you "see" people's financial information that you have no business snooping into.

If you bought a smartphone, and then a year or so later, lost your job and ended up on welfare, then you are obviously a bad person. The same applies if you received a smartphone as a gift. You should probably expect to be justifiably shot by the cops at any moment.

My kid is on a really tight budget, with a smartphone and plan that is extremely budget conscious. Kid keeps a smartphone to aid in job hunting as the kid is looking for a second job or better paying replacement job. Much cheaper than a computer.

In a world where pay phones no longer exist, it's easy for people who have a high speed internet connection at home to forget that a smart phone maybe a person's only telephone and connection to the internet.

Data plans cost money.

So? Data is cheap and a certain amount is included in a lot of plans.

If you are in an area with free wifi (such as in many stores) that your smartphone can connect to, there is no data being used.

Oh please, the right wingers you're accusing of hypocrisy could make the same argument. But, again regulating the food that people can buy with these resources is, as I stated earlier, not new. WIC purchases have always been targeted for only certain foods.
Good thing we are not discussing WIC then isn't it?

Athena, you wanted to know who was throwing WIC in interchangeably with SNAP? ;)
We've already been through this. Look at the link in the OP. And please try being a little less rude in your posts. Discussions are much more productive when they are civil. As a "Super Mod" you should know this.

When you speak to me politely, I will speak to you politely. In the meantime, you need to address the post, not the poster. You should know that as a member who has presumably familiarized yourself with the TOU.

My wife's cell phone plan is unlimited talk and text, and 3 gigs of data for $35 bucks a month. The phone itself, a very nice Motorola, cost her $25 after a $75 rebate. She uses wifi at home and has never run over her limit.

Anyone out there actually thankful for the free food they get so they won't go hungry?

The republicans are slowly working their way to their ultimate goal....no food for you if you need help...no food at all. I think they would, if not pestered by those of us with a little guts be perfectly happy if debtor's prisons were to return.

Google the words Debtors' Prison and you will find that DP are alive and well in living in the USA.

I know that. Some of us are born with a debt that can only be paid in prison. Not that that idea is in any way right. I was not talking about long term debt either. If you can't pay your credit card they can just hitch you up to the millstone and you can turn it for awhile and pay back the debt.

As a citizen of a modern society it is your fucking right to not go hungry.

You know the Republicans and Loren don't believe that. They always disparage those on relief and food stamps...especially when they buy meat with them.

So what's everyone complaining for?

That economic help should come without strings attached.

There are ALWAYS strings attached, c'mon we all know that. Look at how it's "helped" the mentally disabled.

And what kind of person gets upset because their free food curing their hunger pains didn't include shrimp?? -- "I can't have it because you won't buy it for me" - that's their childlike mentality.

Does anyone here think that people using EBT cards will use them on shrimp? The assumption being that poor people are too stupid to of their own volition choose to stretch their food dollar. Does anyone believe that?
