Not america as a nation which probably has a long life in one form or another. But the empire....how long can America keep it going?

An empire is an "extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme authority". Are you asking if the united states will break up in the future? Or do you assume that overseas US allies such as western Europe and/or Australia and etc. are controlled by the US? I'm just trying to help your post get some clarity!

Puerto Rico and Guam, spoils of the Spanish American War are all that remains of the American Empire. We will probably keep both of those for the foreseeable future. I suppose Guantanamo Bay counts, as well.

If that's the difference between a "country" and an "empire" then I can't imagine why anyone would give a crap about being an Empire. I'm not sure we could give Puerto Rico away.

What empire?

Despite recently closing hundreds of bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, the United States still maintains nearly 800 military bases in more than 70 countries and territories abroad—from giant “Little Americas” to small radar facilities. Britain, France and Russia, by contrast, have about 30 foreign bases combined.

And these are just the bases our government allows us to know about. As it does things everyday all over the world it is too ashamed to tell us about.

An empire is a collection of peoples who are ruled by a central government, but have no social, political, or geographical factors in common. Empires are generally formed by conquest and subjugation of sovereign nations.

Historically, empires of conquest existed to feed the conquering nation. Even in the best of examples, subject nations or colonies were expected to provide raw materials and commodities, and also be a market for manufactured goods.

I dunno, a month or two. Do I need to get a sitter?
Don't need a sitter, but you should probably get some toilet paper, Bakker buckets, bullets, and Bundy dildos.

Anywho, we should have 11 months until Emperor Trump takes office :cheeky: Then the DC Colosseum will be built for the feeding of ISIS terrorists to lions will begin...

Probably need to get a sitter to see that.

Actually, we want you to know about all of them. It just works better in the long run if you have to cruise conspiracy sites in order to find out about them...

Yeah, I know.

The destruction of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Nicaragua, Afghanistan and Iraq, and others using proxies.

That's just my lifetime.

No, no empire here. Nothing but a conspiracy theory.

This endless massive war. That's what everybody is doing.

Whenever the weather gets cold, Canadians start talking about annexing somewhere in the Caribbean and making it a province. If you're unhappy with Puerto Rico, we'd be glad to take it off your hands for cents on the dollar.

By "cents on the dollar", I do, of course, mean that we'll pay for it using Canadian money.

Well, you're busy trying to get an 'empire' out of military facilities scattered around the place. I've been on a couple of those sites. We tended to walk around softly, afraid of offending the host nation. No girlie magazines in Muslim countries, no violent movies in British lands, no violations of local laws or even cultural norms. Always struck me as kinda tenuous for an 'Empire.'
You'd think for an empire, we'd be telling them what they're going to tolerate from us.

Since my original offer was "give it away for free", cents on the dollar even in Canadian money will probably still get it done.

Fair disclosure: I do not actually have the authority to sell you Puerto Rico.

I will send you the instructions to my paypal under separate cover.

Well, we want to give you something for it. How about all the people in Congress get a coupon for 10% off Tim Horton's for the next year?

No sell, they already receive a 15% disability discount (partisan blindness).

And the American slave traders had trouble with the Barbary Pirates.

We have military everywhere. We spend almost as much as the rest of the world combined on the military.

We are sticking our nose in everywhere. We have been at war non stop for the last 15 years.

Every few years we launch a massive terrorist invasion. We have a worldwide terrorist assassination program with drones.

Call it what you want. It is worldwide massive violence and intrusion to control resources.

It is Empire. The modern kind.

Only a fool couldn't see it.
